What’s a reasonable drive/ travel for a meet?

Gateshead

I travelled 40mins for a short notice meet the other day and it was brilliant, however I got to thinking what if it hadn’t turned out so well, timewasters etc.

How far are people prepared to travel for a meet.

A) a regular meet that you’ve seen before.

B) a new meet you’ve never met?

Be interesting to see how this goes

I tend to set an hour-ish travel limit. Beyond that is pointless for my preference of regular meetings.

250 miles for a new meet. Well worth it!! Only problem it's difficult to make it a regular thing.

I've driven up to four hours for a meet before, admittedly it was for a weekend though.

We sometimes go to chameleons in Darlaston so roughly 2 hours but would travel a little further if we were having the weekend away.

I'd do up to 2hrs each way for a naughty meet..... if it's definitely just social then an hour.

I have done a 500 mile round trip for a fwb.... in a day.

couple of hours easy enough for a meet.

you travel roughly a mile a minute on a motorway so amazing where you can get in a couple of hours

I’d travel up to an hour each way, although for something special I guess there’s no real limitation. Realistically, I tend to stick to within a 20/30 minute travel zone otherwise there’s no possibility of anything regular developing.

Agree with above, an hour each way unless we are sleeping over.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I tend to look out of the window, any further than as far as i can see seems a bit of a faf...

While on that subject, I haven't seen any FAF threads in a while, seems they have gone out of fashion now..

Leeds + Newcastle

I get such short notice for a meet due to work and personal situation, I work to a 20-30 minute drive distance.

I cannot justify agreeing to meet someone further away, reliant on public transport or booking hotels.

I'd rather 'disappoint' someone a short distance away than someone miles away and spent on a room.

I know it limits my catchment area and i get a lot of hassle for being so specific but it is what it is.

There and to the left a bit

For the right person and circumstances allowing there wouldn't be a limit but have travelled 5 hours round trip before now

From past experience 50 miles tops has worked for me, had a couple of occasions of being let down in the past.

But i think you just put it down to experience and learn from it, also you sometimes get that gut feeling when its not right.

Never put me off and also if you put the effort in, it says alot about you as a person.

2 hrs each way for someone I've met and know I click with or if I'm really keen for a new 1st meet but normally 1 hr each way is enough.

Two and a half to three hours is doable. More if there's a stay over though.

I've traveled 3 hours before and it was a great meet, I would travel further for a first meeting but only if I knew the people were 100% genuine

I've traveled to the west country and the Midlands for meets and traveled to leeds for nights out.. so distance isn't a problem as long as i get an overnight stay..

Great feedback thanks, just let you know! The same couple I travelled for and left a glow verification for, are now ignoring me lol, haven’t verified me either but still advertising for others, they also haven’t verified another gent that turned up & had the decency to verify them.

Hey ho it’s a mad world lol. Happy travels

Mine is like 30 to 45 mins due to time wasters for someone I hadn't met before.

If it was a regular who I'd met a few times then maybe upto an hour, but all the guys ive met live reasonably close so never had to think about it

We’ve drove up to 3 and 4 for a meet but only when we’ve known there 100% genuine don’t think we would go more than a hr if we wasn’t sure. Where we have traveled it’s been we’ve meet them somewhere before or someone we know on the scene know or met them before.
