Could I ask OP what you think is meant by transgender? The generally accepted definition among tg people is anybody who's self identified gender or gender expression does not precisely match the m or f that was assigned by the doctor at time of birth. Tg is an umbrella term that includes but is not limited to ts, tv, cd, gq, bg, nb... And many more that someone will no doubt remind me of.

So yes, I am tg. Non-surgery, no hormones, not full time, still legally male - but all the same, transgender. More specifically, at present I identify as bi-gendered, fluctuating inside my head between male and female, and at different times dressing female or male. With dressing not always matching what's going on in my head!

Interesting. What do you give as your definition? I hope not limited just to ts. I will accept that it is perfectly possible to be cd, tv without being tg. But also perfectly possible to be tg without being ts. And maybe in very rare cases to even be ts without being tg (theoretically, and maybe, and no i don't know anyone like this personally).

There's also all the intersex conditions, but I'm no sort of expert here and wouldn't want to start categorising any which way (although yes, i do know a couple of IS people personally).

I consider transgender as a girl with a dick or a tgirl if we're saying it right.

If they have changed sex then they are the sex they have changed to, if they haven't then they are the sex they are until they change that.

I’m simply saying the definition of tg is not ‘generally accepted’ as including people who dress for fun.

Yes, i agree absolutely. Although it is a slippery slope, it is not unknown for people to start dressing for fun and then discover within themselves hidden depths to their gender identity. At what point they start to come under the transgender umbrella? Pretty much down to self identification (with corner cases, always possible to find exceptions that muddy the waters).

Yup, and it's confusing even for us transgender folk. Roughly, and other tg people may/will disagree, there are three separate but sometimes linked things going on:

1. Gender identity - whether you feel inside your head if you are male, female, in between, neither, fluctuating.

2. Gender expression - how you dress and behave.

3. Biological gender - what "bits" you have.

When all of these correspond, and match what the doctor put on your birth certificate, then you are cis gender (kind of the gender equivalent of heterosexual). When any of the three don't correspond, or they do correspond but don't match your birth certificate, then you're (probably, and with exceptions) trans gender.

Oh, and gender is not the same as sexuality. Gender is who you are. Sexuality is who you do.

Though the cis peoples categories of hetero and homo sexual are bloody useless when applied to trans people.

I'd class that as transsexual as they have changed from male to female (i.e changed sex)

Then there is me, I say I'm transgender as I dress female 99.9% of the time but not taking hormones (as of yet). And i also wanna try and differentiate myself from the TV/CDs on here, each to their own but I think i dress for slightly different reasons.

A lot of transgender people would say that they haven't changed gender, they have just realised their internal gender and made it visible on the outside. They are now having the world see them as the gender that they have always been.

Or, a person who has undergone,is undergoing or intends to undergo a process or part of a process of gender reassignment.

I think that's pretty close to the definition under the Equality Act. (quite a broad definition in fact)

Transgender is not changing gender

It is putting the correct body on.

When embryos 1st take human form they are all female , for some the x hormone kicks in & girls become boys .

The Clitoris becomes a penis, ovaries become testicles, g-spot becomes the prostate etc . Now where it gets interesting is why the brain doesn't change .

As the brain is who we are , it is correct to say they always were in the wrong body & always had the right brain.

And some people have more than two sex chromosomes.

So we are not all XX or XY

some are XYY or XXY

There are even people with even more than that.

Science is now proving the doubters wrong.
