So was thinking about how people say, I get checked once a month, every six months, whatever, and realised that really its not an indicator of how clean or otherwise someone could be.

For example, some people could be meeting weekly and checking six monthly, whilst others could still be meeting weekly and getting tested every month?

What do you think is best, and yes, we all know no- sex is safest, but methinks that is the most unlikely thing on this site!

I think the best thing is to be aware of your physical condition. Some sti's have very "obvious" physical symptoms, but they are only obvious if you have done a bit of research. There are plenty of online resources out there, that give examples....

For those sti's that don't have a physical manifestation there are other "clues" either the passing of water (man, I am polite), lethargy, etc, etc.... Again the sexual health sites are your friend..

Some sti's are extremely difficult to spot either physically or otherwise, and it's here that a regular check-up is needed. There is no point in hiding from the fact that sex, for some of us, is a leisure activity, as such, we should all make sure we are in a condition to perform without causing injury....

We went for a check recently, asked the nurse how often is best, her reply was depends how often we play. I guess good answer, also like poster above said, some Sti's have obvious symptoms. We genrally go on how often we play. x

I was advised 12 weekly as it takes that long for some things to show in your system, so when you go back to make sure youre all nice and clean, start the ball rolling again..

That is depending on how careful you are and how active though, and only the individual can tell that...

The ones who say they get checked every month i don't believe. Its that protesting too much thing. I tend to think they are recreate barebackers.

Well for me its part of something I need doing for other things.. due to a health issue I have had for a very long time, I have STD testing along side the other tests just because its best to..

Now we play BB maybe once in every 50 or more guys... but sometimes more than once in a month. My doctors do not mind that I ask for the extra tests each month..

To be fair before I started swinging I BB all the time and was never ever tested..

No prob with people being honest about what they do its the fair thing. Its the ones who will say they dont but do irk me. I still don't believe people who claim to go 12 times or more a year though.

That was why I answered you.. as I am tested every month along with my normal tests that I have.. it just makes sense.. I have to have blood tests and internal swaps... so its no problem for them to do it.

I had to ask extra for oral ones but well.. it doesnt take much extra.. If I ever stop having to have the monthly check ups anyway, I think I would go every two months.

And yes.. I have met lots of guys with BIG safe sex paragraphs on their profile.. and because we state we will.. they ask.. In fact today 2 offers of bb.. and both rant about safe sex on profile.. lol

Im checked about 3/4 times a year. We dont have a gum clinic here so the nurse does me when i go for other stuff and she does a mouth test as well

Ditto. Might believe it if they have an underlying medical condition that requires monthly testing. Blimey, if every swinger went for monthly tests the NHS would be in an even worse mess than it is now

That gets me every time.i have actually had ppl(from another site) try bb in clubs,when they were the biggest voice of outrage on forums.

Well from a new swingers point of view i would think the 6-8 week mark to ensure continuing good health!! I also think it's dependant on the ammount of partners you have!! for exampple if you rregualrly take part in orgy/greedy girl nights then i think you should get tested more often!! enfection can spread like wildfire through a community if not watched for, but if cought earlty then it's relitivly simple to stamp it out.

Exactly. That's why I tend not to listen too much to the heavy protesting because I've seen enough profiles stating that sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Then the people who say they practise safe sex but then don't. they're the real hypocrites and biggest danger.

Trust, responsibility and good judgement are just as important as condoms!

Yehh think maybe once a month is a bit much, Like the nurse said to me, if you are not that active for a month or two, then why get checked. Like she said every one will be different depending on how much they play. We also have the mouth one as thats the play you do unprotected, and even though we only do anal WITH a condom, i had to have a swob done there this time. Guess its a case of common sence, if your playing a lot then get checked more often, if your on a slow down time, then can go longer between checks.

There is no right and wrong i guess, just common sence,. xx

I think it depends how many people you have in that one month.. on a good month we can have 20 plus other people. So we would get checked...

and as we do on occassion go BB it pays for us to be that extra bit safe..

i have the depo...... the injection, and i am checked at the same time, the nurse says once every three mths or so is about the sensible time to have your checks done,

Never bare back when having vaginal,anal and oral sex! Even my strap on and dildos wear condoms when interacting with others!

It doesn't matter if I'm playing at a club, hotel or home, safe sex is a priority.

Check ups are carried out routinely when I need to visit my GP which is probably every 6-9 months.
