I think they were being very polite to reply. Some just send random stuff in reply to your status and others message on the back of it in the hope of getting a convo going and a possible meet. Can't see the issue here?

No I would not have been miffed for no reply as you get use to no replys but sometimes I think being polite on here is totally the wrong way to go and why do peeps automatically presume you want to meet them by anwsering their question

I've no idea but they obviously wanted no more contact which is totally their choice, as it was your choice to message them about their status.

Right, so along the lines of......

I get a mail saying 'Wow, lovely sexy pics Mmm'

I presume a man mailing a woman on a sex site, complimenting her on her 'sexy' pics, is a preamble to initiating conversation, with a view to possible sex.

I usually reply, 'thank you' but I would not be looking to meet you, sorry'.

Some reply 'thanks anyway, good luck'.

Some reply 'I never asked you to meet' ?

How would you have replied OP ?

I'm not sure what the problem is. You sent the message in the hope that it'd be the opening of a dialogue between you, so why you upset with the reply you got?

It's probably a question with a hidden meaning. Hence they didn't want to meet you because you didn't give the correct answer. Just suck it up and move on...XXX

I get messages from randomers saying they would love to chat more with the hope of a meet. I have a quick look at thier profile but it’s hidden as they don’t want to meet my type and then go to message back and I can’t as I can’t send them a message

If I have a stupid status up and get messages I’m relation to them. The minute I reply I’m suddenly blocked. Funny world isn’t it ha ha

My take on it all is that the OP might be getting an unfairly bumpy ride here.

I don’t want to speak for the OP, obviously, but my interpretation is that he saw a status asking a question - I assume ‘chips or mash?’

OP replied ‘chips’ (or possibly ‘mash’!) in a good natured spirit of answering the status question posed.

The reply misinterpreted his intent and hence surprised him.

Why ask a question if you’re not going to accept (or misinterpret) a simple answer?

Simple as that!

I don’t think the OP seems affronted she didn’t like him, just that the reply was totally out of context with his mail to her.

I think it was just a thread to highlight a quirky response not a real whinge!

But maybe I’m wrong!

But it wasn’t a random message as such it was a answer to question. Someone asking a question on a status update should expect people to send a answer. If they really didn’t want to talk then wouldn’t it of been best to ignore the reply. I can’t see why if all the op messaged was the answer to there question that they would message back saying sorry not my type. Bit rude really.

I have to say that, you shouldn't feel the need to but I do, I always put at the end of a message to someone I have no intention of meeting just that. Blah blah blah whatever the message and don't panic, I'm not looking for a meet, just wanted to say x y and z.

Due to the nature of this site and some people being more pushy than others, most naturally assume you want to fuck them when you message. Of course that is bollocks but its the way of this site.

Take no notice, some times you wouldn't win whatever you said.

I got what you meant, you were obviously trying for some banter and a different way of mailing, but sometimes if you enter into banter the person thinks they are in with a chance so they probably nipped it in the bud incase you had that in mind

I have to say, before I started running my profile as I do now, I'd get responses to my status updates which I'd always reply to. On more than one occasion I had a bit of banter with them and a laugh and a couple then tried to persue a meet to which I politely said no thanks. One got abusive and one brandished me a time waster. Maybe this user has had similar experiences which is why they gave the answer they did?

I learned quickly that any response, other than a no thank you or not what I'm looking for sorry, left the sender thinking I was interested in them and wanted to meet.

The only time I've had a conversation-where the man didn't automatically think I was interested in him-was with people from the forum.

He's know's its banter, he knows me very well

Oh I see, I thought it was a white knight jumping to your defence. I was trying to reassure him I meant no offence

I think there was a bit of white knighting there, don't worry, I'll give him a slap next time I see him!"

Awww I think it's rather sweet

"My take on it all is that the OP might be getting an unfairly bumpy ride here.

But maybe I’m wrong!thank you someone can see where I am coming from the big question where they my type ?"

That’s how I see it too - I know it’s easy to do, but sometimes we forget that behind the people looking for meets there is actually the possibility of just some basic human interaction & not everything is designed to get someone to meet.

Gomez does the same quite often on our couples profile - he sees a status that makes him chuckle or with that kind of question & he’ll send a message, purely just for the fun or the banter.

Yes, we all get lots of messages, but sometimes it is just a bit of social banter & nothing more!!
