Put the phone down earlier. The light emitted from it is a stimulant and contributes to your sleeplessness.

Have you tried closing your eyes? I've heard that helps.

Struggled myself, found myself resorting to my OH sleeping pills. Didn't like the reliance on them that was developing. So joined the gym, figured if i couldn't fall asleep with mental tiredness i needed to do some exercise and get physically tired too.

Prior to this i brought some herbal ''Sleep Away'' tablets from Asda, they helped for a bit.

Eat some lettuce, it's got something in it that makes you tired. Try some slow breathing, have the radio on really low.

Is your bed/mattress the problem?

Write any concerns you have down on paper and get them out of your mind.

Have a wank?

Make sure the room isn't too warm.

Get rid of as many electrical appliances as you can.

I believe having high furniture like wardrobes can have an effect also.

Lavender scent on your pillow.

Get an app on your phone that will play soothing music or noise for a period of time while you drop off, pink noise, or rain, etc.

Have a wank.

Count sheep.

For really severe insomnia you could do the two concurrently. It's served many a Welshman well
