Has anybody out there met up with someone and its not the person in the photo?

Has happened to me 3 times now on this site with the same excuse every time "oh i didnt think you'd meet me if i sent you a real pic of me!"

what do they think will happen come meet day? That you'll be blind or you'll just think fuck it, i'll do it anyway!

Ok just want to point out I am not starting this topic for anybodys "expert" advice on how to avoid this happening or what to do in this situation. I'm starting this topic so we can discuss the craziness of the people that do it and the situation. Generally how baffling it is.

Hmm the cam thing, remember i wasnt asking for advice? But yea that is a solution. There are a few to get round it.

Again as both of our 2 responders so far have said so its such an awkward situation that people put you in when they send you a pic that isnt them.

I don't get it, why would you do that? Surely by admitting that they know you wouldn't want to meet them if they put a real pic of themselves on their profile they already know they don't stand a cat in hells chance of getting anywhere with you? Why subject themselves to the humiliation of you turning around and walking out when you do actually meet?

People like that just ruin it for genuine people... really makes me mad!

To be honest I'd be wondering why they were on a swinging site if they were going to do that, not judging them for the reasons why. Like when a guy doesn't turn up - I'm too busy fuming to think 'well, maybe he had a bad childhood'!

When it effects you directly ie: time and money spent, your safety and of course your trust you have more than a right to be fumming if its not them in the pic me thinks.

I've noticed a gender divide with this. Women are more likely to post a 10 year old photo that makes them look good facially. Guys are more likely to lift a cock shot from a porn site but show an honest face pic.

Tis a generalisation but one that made me chuckle. I wish it was all about the cock, would make life much easier

I would walk away as I wont tolerate being lied to period. If they are not being honest about the basics then no chance with me.

I would also report and block that profile asap.

I have been recognised in clubs from my profile on here but cant say I get chance to perv others and recognise them hehe

Was asking for peoples opinions on the subject not advice. Thats not dictating thats explaining what the topics about. If i'd had wanted advice i would've started the topic asking for advice. No need to go on the attack.

I was on another site and someone sent me a pic, then i just happened to look at a video on you tube and saw same picture, it was a male model. Also have seen a few pics on here that look like pics from magazines, cant be sure of course though. Have met a few men who looked younger in their pics they had on their profile, and a few who lied about how tall they were. Funny how people who leave them verifications never mention it, including me. I think they dont care about putting old face pics on here, they probably kid themselves that they still look the same.

doesnt anyone ever use a web cam .. I really dont understand why not . you can at least see exactly what you are getting...either way. My foto was taken on friday all of the ones i share are recent ie under a year. but im happy to stick a cam up any time here .

I have had this happen to me, and I can tell you it was not pleasant.

Turned up to a meet expecting to be greeted by a 38 year old 'curvy' woman with short hair and a tattoo of the Wolves logo on her hip.

But the door was opened by a nubile 19 year old Scandinavian girl wearing nothing but 7" heels and a smile.

She said she was worried that I wouldn't have met her because of the age difference so she made up a fake profile. She had enjoyed my forum posts so much that she had kind of fallen in love with me a bit and wanted to me to take her anal virginity.

Needless to say I told her in no uncertain terms that it was totally unacceptable to be dishonest on a profile and I found her behaviour to be out of order before promptly leaving her on the doorstep.

As soon as I got home I blocked her and also reported her to 'admin' but I don't think they bothered to do anything about it as I saw her commenting in a forum about a month later.

it's this kind of thing which spoils it for all the genuine people on here.

maybe ask to see them on cam .... before a meet ... look at feedback on profile see if others thay meet look real as know that can even be fixed .Maybe if had this alot put in profile you have come across this and dont like it fake pics.

I met a man from a dating site and his face pic he looked lively. Slim dark hair nice teeth etc and when I met with him for a coffee he was grey haired bad teeth worse dress sence and jyst got worse by the second.

The best thing about him was his car which was as described. The picture he had if him certainly was him but clearly 10 years or so ago. After the coffee he mailed to ask me to meet him again and I was very honest with why not. Saw him 2 years later on another site with the same picture still!

Ive never had it but I know people do and i cant for the life of me think why you would put someone elses photo up if your planning a meet. Ok so they have lured you there under false pretences but how embarresing it must be for them to be told no

I just remembered many years ago i met a guy of a chatline, it was a social meet in public as i didnt know what he looked like but the way he described himself he sounded fine. When i met him i was walking up and down the platform for him then this thing appeared like a monster out of the mist. He was so bad i actually went into shock, i managed to walk down the street with him as i was in shock then i suddenly said i cant go through with this and ran to the train station. It took me about 2 days to get over it. Still makes me feel ill now

Have come across some on other sites look nothing like pics as had them photo shopped or somthing making them look 6ft tall and size 6 , not sure how thay do all this as crap on the pc but some play around with pics .. would go to other sites club nights think who the hell is this , lol not on there now as pay site and more about pics ,

We had kind of a similar experience..It was his pictures, but the pictures was taken at list 20 years ago. In the meantime he was not only 20 years older but he adds at least 4 stones to his weight. In such a case we don`t have a problem to say "Thank you for coming, but No Thanks!", no mater what. Therefore we prefer to meet them at clubs. If something it isn't right, always we have other open option there. At least we haven't lost anything and still can enjoy our night out.

I never cam, msn or talk on the phone because I can't be arsed to talk to one person for any length of time when I've been at work all day. I don't like ping pong messages on here either, so its not the case that people have something to hide.

I can't understand why people will send a pic of someone else, it is obvious they are going to be found out. It happened to me once and I felt really embarrassed by it. I didn't like upsetting the guys feelings and I'm usually a very assertive person but when its having to comment on something personal about someone looks. thankfully this has not happened to me yet. although I've chatted with many fake profiles, men pretending to be females. very annoying.

lol because i haven't been in that situation i wouldnt know what to do if it ever happened. i would probably turn around and run!

on the other hand if i went along to a meet and it wasn't the person in the pics, instead it was Mila Kunis standing there...

This hasn't happened to me on here (yet) but it has on another site i use. Twice i've met guys who used fake pics and one guy used pics 5 years old and 4 stone ago!

One of my friends on the site suggested using tineye to check suspect pics but i'm not sure if it could be applied to pics on here...

Has happened a couple of times but only for socials. One had pics seven years old and was already older than we would normally meet. Nice guy but it wasn't going to happen. The other guy was different guy from the pic! We weren't 100 percent sure until getting home. He lied while with us and I just tied him up in knots in the hot seat. We did report but as usual nothing happened.

Not quite the same but I had a message from a single fem getting irate saying I was a fake cause I had a photo of two different girls on profile so we could not be real and she would therefore report me to admin for Id theft and being a fake. When I asked why she thought they were different girls she said cause I had different colour hair and was more tanned in some pics. I offered to call HER a prove her wrong although I had no need to but she declined and deleted her profile..... Talk about the pot and the kettle.
