Why the reluctance to do this if there's a chance of it leading to a longer term thing?

Socials are a good opportunity to see if there's compatibility, and more importantly, chemistry/ an attraction.

Socials work both ways, we've been to more than one and been told 'thanks, but no thanks' job done, saves future embarrassment

Best to do a social in a local pub/bar. If you wish to progress, then you can go back to either parties house/hotel room, or, arrange another meet at a later date.

Always meet in costa or a local coffee shop and usually on my lunch hour. If they don't turn up or are not for me I've not wasted my time.

In reference to the OP I agree it's getting harder on here.

We had a social with a couple about 3 months ago. Was the best thing now we meet regularly not just for play meets ether. Also the female half meets them solo sometimes so has turned out to be a good thing.

From my experience on my single prof,I find if they won't do a social meet,they either cant be seen out with you ie attached

Or are too lazy to put any effort in and expect to comw straight over for fun.

A social meet is a must to ascertain whether you are all compatible, then if all goes well and you get a fair wind who knows.

Nice to have chat over a coffee or a glass of wine.

Do you not travel and maybe the lack of public pictures maybe a part?. It's all very long on here at times and if someone came across your profile and couldn't be bothered to ask for a public picture,then one of those could have potentially been your long term

Do you not travel and maybe the lack of public pictures maybe a part?. It's all very long on here at times and if someone came across your profile and couldn't be bothered to ask for a public picture,then one of those could have potentially been your long term "
My avatar is regularly a face pic, I keep them for friends only as this site is full of pic collectors. I do travel but only locally to me as I drive in excess off 300 miles a week for work do I'm not willing to do it in my spare time either. I can accommodate as I live on my own but that takes trust and I certainly won't do that with random people of the Internet.

I have a meet tomorrow, I will definitely turn up, always do. If they don’t then hey ho. I am here to socialise and meet, whether publicly or in clubs. Not to um and ah and make excuses. Unfortunately Op I fall outside of 2 categories, age and distance. Saying that though the lady I am meeting tomorrow does live in Cornwall but spends a lot of time near me. Yeh me too and to see whats going on in clubs. In fact I wouldn't meet men off here at all now. Easier to just pull on a night out. Genuine ladies and hot couples are ok tho.
