Rugby player build

What does that actually mean?

I gave up playing rugby two years ago, and my experience is that all shapes and sizes play the game.

Is it something mythical, akin to a unicorn?

Big strong thighs......that's the image that springs to my mind.....yes please!

You are however totally right in that rugby players are all different shapes and sizes.

I always think it's the male equivalent of "curvey".

Strong, big legs and a certain degree of stamina I think, like you said rugby players come in all shapes and sizes but those three things tend to be common in all players.

Ok. On that basis I’ll add rugby player build to my profile.

Fwiw, rugby players now often have bodies approaching a slightly fatty bodybuilder. Muscular all over, slim, six packs very visible...

Very different to the men who claim to have "rugby player builds"

It's a bloke way of saying they are overweight/curvy/large. I've come across many a bloke who proclaims to have a "rugby" build who has never set foot on a sports pitch

Well I’ve played rugby all my life only finishing a few years ago to coach junior teams now and I think the above quote is spot on they are far more muscular and fitter ie stamina now then they were years ago

I took it as being generally quite stocky. But not necessarily toned. Most professional players tend to fit that category.

Ardgay

Chunky and fearless - prop

Slightly chunky and a bit mental - hooker

Tall - second row

Fast, muscles and tallish - flanker

Muscles and tall - No. 8

Gobby wee shite - scrum half

Pristeen and groomed - fly half

Quite fast but not chunky enough for a forward - inside center

Light on their feet - outside centre

Slim, liable to break if touched too hard - wing

Immaculate hair - full back.

Played from a young age till my knees gave out, moved into coaching. Still attend occasional training sessions and regularly play touch.

Haha, have to agree with you OP , played a bit and would probably have been middle of the road physique wise between front rows the size of houses , and scrum halves the size of children , so playing rugby doesn't necessarily equate to being built like a Greek god

To me me rugby league players tend to look the same, big and stocky but Union players differ a lot more from short rotund hookers (not those, filthy beasts) to humongous No.8s to toned but relatively slim wingers.

My (limited) understanding is it means stocky, a bit too much muscle, possibly a bit of fat and generally brick shit house stuff.

However I've known tall slender rugby players

Perfect description I’d say, seen as hubster is ex semi pro rugby player I’d definitely not describe him as fat!

Broad back, big legs and perfect ass comes to mind!

Agree with this,

Wouldn’t say chuckling rugby player build a. Profile is a nicer way of saying “I’m fat”.

Thighs, shoulders and stamina. Rugby players I know aren’t gym rats but in good shape from chucking people around all day...would you like to be chucked around the bedroom now...

Blandford ish

For us it’s large built chunky men, not saying fat but built.... know the types where they are 19 stone but not belly but tall and broad I don’t like 6 packs and “gym fit” guys

Does that make any sense

Prefer an 'ex' rugby player, still has the presence and bulk, but with a bit of a belly. God I think the belly sexy!

I don’t know what kind of rugby some people watch....must be me I must completely blind to the “ FAT “ rugby players the select see!

But then I’m into the “ FAT “ rugby player...real man look!

Not the pumped up roid heads that are all for the look and not the fitness!
