Hair in the armpits and groin is an evolutionary leftover and it's function is to trap smells to attract a mate like many other animals still do.

Make of that what you will but it's a bit too caveman for us, we prefer fresh looking nice smelling squeaky smooth bits.

My preference is shaven. I shave and much prefer to have fun with similar M or F. It’s much more pleasurable I think and to me looks great. If its a tight trim it’s not as bad to me but smooth is better for me
