Anyone been thrown out of a Hotel?

We met a couple who Had booked a Travelodge. We had a drink in the adjacent Pub/Eatery and the two girls went to the room to change and get ready then the guys joined them. The lady on reception was hovering in the corridors like a right nosey cow and obviously thought it was a bit suspicious .It was about 7pm in the evening . Anyway that shouldn’t matter at all.

As we were in the middle of banging away with both girls obviously enjoying the boys performance and saying so perhaps rather too loudly the nosey cow starts knocking continuously on the door saying if we all didn’t leave immediately she would call the Police! Anyway the ‘moment’ had gone as the girls got quite spooked by this and we all left with our tails between our legs so to speak. If it had just been us two having a shag we would have stood our ground and argued with her but with it being 4 people we didn’t want to make a scene .

Anyone else had anything like this and handled it differently ?

Nope, and you were doing nothing illegal so I fail to see what the police might have done. Travelodge is known as "fuck Lodge" for a reason....

One time my wife and I wanted to book a room with a super king bed for three and were politely told three people meant two beds.

I think that if all 4 of you were booked into the hotel then you were fine to stay and enjoy yourselves but if only 2 of you were booked in as paying guests but you had 4 in the room then they can ask you to leave.

But as I'm not in the hotel trade I'm not 100% on this.

You should have asked her if she wanted to join in with the police when they get there. It could have been really kinky

Then I would have told her i would like my money back for the room and then Complained to to head office about management there ruining the day/night out and asked for compensation lol

Maybe this was the technicality she would have used if we had called her bluff and told her to call the Police and if so it would suggest guests are not allowed any other people in a room even if these extra people are not staying overnight but just going to be in there just for a few hours .

I've never, ever come across a hotel which denied access to friends visiting for a few hours.

Where they might be concerned is if you require extra towels etc for your extra guests. They might think the extras are staying the night for free. But inviting people to your room (regardless of whether sex takes place) is very common in hotels.

You were doing nothing illegal and the police would likely not be interested. I'd be tempted to write to head office.

I have worked in a hotel, albeit nearly 20 years ago, and the only concern was that extra overnight guests should be paid for. We were well aware some guests were using rooms as shag pads. As long as they paid and didn't damage anything it really was none of our business.

Once many years ago with an ex we where told to leave as my tactless (her word not mine) groans where heard along the corridor we where both very young,nieve and embarrassed we just left heads down tails between our legs

We had many a chuckles telling friends and our kids over the years

If it happened now then I'd just scream louder

Suppose if you were making too much noise that's not good for other guest's,I wouldn't like it if I was in there with my kid's. I haven't been thrown out of a hotel anyway,thankfully.

You are always welcome to ask for a room at the end of a corridor if noise concerns you.

Bottom line... Nobody was doing anything illegal so the police reference is baffling.

We are in the hotel trade if you all were paying guests then they couldn't do a bloody thing about it other than if it was a bit noisy ask you to keep it down. If only 1 couple were registered as guests and the others just visiting then yes they can ask you to leave and as a last resort if you refuse the police can be called in to remove you from the premises hope that helps for future meets.

She's probably not getting any herself and thought if I'm not getting it you're not either

Disturbing other guests with loud noise might be the reason/excuse applied in this case. They could/should ask you to keep the noise down first though IMO, but perhaps not answering the door escalated the situation?

Unlucky with the staff on duty I'd say as it seems they were on the warpath.

We had something similar once in the Premier Inn next to Xtasia. We went back to a room with two other couples (unfortunately not on the swingers floor) and within five minutes there was someone from reception knocking on the door asking how many people were in the room. We wouldn't have minded but we hadn't even started and the room next door was making way more noise than we were!

Agree but this was about 730 as we met in the eatery next door at 530. We think some Hotels have thicker wall and doors but this was a budget Hotel so probably the humping noises carried more down the corridors .

You can’t beat a detached house for fun and games in our opinion .

I've never had a problem but we've always done a bit of a routine walking past reception seperately. Ultimately she couldn't have done anything but i appreciate it's a mood killer.

I work for a large hotel chain, and during training all staff get taught the signs of possible illegal sexual activity which can sound like swinging... like large numbers of people going to just the one room, evidence of a lot of condoms being used, the room being over occupied for long periods of time and a few others, including noises of course. Obviously, management won't know the exact legality of a possible sexual situation in a hotel room, but as a company we have to take responsibility and err on the side of caution. The company could have nasty repercussions if an illegal activity took place on the premises and staff just turned a blind eye.

Also, the hotel is there for all guests to have a safe, comfortable and peaceful stay, not just for multiple people to shag in a room for a few hours.

Swinging is not illegal....prostitution is..yet probably your hotel would turn a blind eye to prostitution simply because it is a one on one situation....

Exactly. Even if they did turn up, which is doubtful, they would advise the hotel staff that it was a civil matter and they (the police) would have no power to make them leave.

The construction of Travelodges leaves a lot to be desired. They are thrown up very quickly using a timber frame process, and the sound insulation is shockingly poor. The cheap method of construction is reflected in the cheap prices.

If I was planning on a night like that I'd be looking to go somewhere that was build properly.

My wife is very loud. We go to hotel so she can let it out. We use a regular hotel and most of the staff member are aware so they give up a room on the back of the hotel. But I do get turned on by hearing my wife moaning outside the room. Also when you book a hotel try and book one that business men use, as less families around.
