"While nobody would suggest swinging is a modern phenomenon, it's certainly been helped by websites like this and social media. So the question is; how did swingers get by in the pre-internet days? How did our parents manage to arrange meets? Ewwww! I just put an image in my mind I'm not sure I like! " Or worse, imagine going to a club and bumping in to your folks lol.

"Perhaps the most reliable means was the monthly contact magazine called "Rendezvous", eventually published with colour pix and the "posting referral service" they provided was also reliable . . . what wasn't "reliable" was the genuineness of those advertising, all the gripes you read about here are as old as the hills. These contact mag's could also be a bit of a money maker too, the publishers couldn't verify the advertiser so many of the "solo females" were fakes who, having placed a free advert, then raked in a good reward by re-using the stamped SAE's they got in responses. Once worked with a guy doing video for the Adult Market who claimed he regularly made about £50 per month in unused stamps! Some of the smaller contact mags actually put up their own fake "solo female" advert's just to get for free the stamps they used in sending out the replies!! " I remember Rendezvous, I first came across a copy of it discarded on the pavement on my way home from school when I was about 15/16. Some of the ads in it had direct contact numbers, they where always the ones for single females who where basicly call girls/escorts rather than genuine swingers.

"We found some of our old contact magazines at the weekend. The earliest was 2001. It was interesting to note that the majority of pictures showed pubic hair." Being a bit of a connoisseur of such things I own a few old contact magazines myself. They date back to the 70s and 80s. It's basically Fab in magazine form...but with more bush!

"There used to be a free ads paper in the late 80's & early 90's called LOOT. I think it might still be going on line actually. Anyway there was a section in there where swingers could advertised and you replied by either writing to PO Box address or calling a voicemail which was a premium rate number. My first ever arranged meet with a couple was through a LOOT advert." Mine too which led to my first ever swinger club visit.

In fact, I wonder how long it took most people who bought a polaroid camera before they had it out of the box and were taking pics of their naked spouse or their own genitals? I imagine it was the reason why a lot of people bought one. It certainly wasn't for the picture quality. Come to think of it, Polaroid basically helped to invent the dick pic. For decades whole generations of men could only dream of one day being able to take and own a photo of their own wang. Polaroid...you have a lot to answer for.

"with me it was via forum magazine. Then sending a letter to a PO Box No. with a SAE and sitting back and waiting. The downside was you didnt know what part of the country the couple lived in, but in the whole a lot more polite and decent people then, nowadays the Jeremy Kyle-Style swingers must be thankful for the internet as writing a letter would have been beyond them" Illiterate people shouldn't be swingers?
