Lucky for some, thinking about getting a track bike soon, only a little 400 to mess about with to start but the idea of trying to get it to tracks or meets keep putting me off

1200 bandit, 365 days a year!

Every year as I get older winter starts, and I think it's possibly time to learn to drive a car, then spring arrives. . .

My Bandit 1250 will still be doing the commute for a bit longer yet, but I'm not a massive fan of cleaning so she'll mainly only come out when it's dry... the pushbike on the other hand gets ridden what ever the weather does.

I recently got a used TomTom Rider V5, it has a "Windy roads" option that is pretty bloody good tbh. If you are more into the planning a route, waymarks etc. Then I've heard the Garmin stuff is better. Bike nave are horrendously expensive though compared to car ones, but then my TomTom fell off my bike (mount broke) at 40ish, bounced & apart from marks is right as rain.

This seems like a good thread to jump on... I'm an all year biker set to do my full license in December, at the moment I got a little cbr125 but I'm stuck between what I should get for my next bike once I have my license, I don't have big money to spend so an older bike is what I'm looking for, I like the old gsxr dead and the triumph Daytona... looking at spending around 1500 on a ride.

Does any of you guys have any help for me deciding. It will be rode all year round too?

Depends how big a engine you want really if I'm honest. If you want something quick and won't let you down no matter the weather and it will be your first bigger bike I would recommend a bandit if I'm honest. You could get something like an srad or a cbr600 but if you're using it year round I.e ice and snow etc if you throw it down the road you're gonna need to source plastics which can be a bitch with older bikes.

Well your over 30 so that's good for insurance, TW not so hot. I'd advise you get some insurance quotes based on just passing your test, if they are a bit then move from sportsbikes to things like Fazers & Bandits (600 Fazers are awesome alrounders).

Oh & do not buy an early 600 Daytona, not unless you want a £600+ bill for a shim service.

Yep, that's main dealer prices in the south east though, only applies to the first of the pointy nosed ones.

If you can afford the SRAD, check out insurance on a last year 750fi so should be 98/99. Get a tidy one, look after it & it'll make you money I was in two minds on a Gixxer7 or YZF750, went with the YZF in the end.

Yeah I will have to do some quotes, I only really like the sportbikes, I prefer the riding position.

"We have 7 between us only one goes away and that's the race bike for the engine service and rebuild

Wow 7 that sounds like my type of garage

Greedy I have four of my own but twelve here in all, from restorations for customers to general service work & resto's to make a few quid on (hopefully).

Anyone planning ongoing to the Welsh road racing next year?

S nice

Not sure yet all depends on when it is

4-5th August MOD land just outside Brecon.

S

Should try and organise a meet up social thing if we get enough people off here involved "

Very narrow though, bit like Olivers Mount width wise. Should be good!

Billericay

My baby is now off the road. 10mph high side on a patch of oil. Fairing, indicator, mirrors, screen, gear shift and generator cover all smashed. Not been a very good boy this year so no chance of Santa bringing me new bits.
