Does anybody else share my disappointment in going to 'recommended' dogging sites around the north east/tyne and wear on weekends, only to find a real lack of action?

Has dogging died out, or are there any locations where good action is still to be found?

Becoming 'recommended' is the kiss of death for dogging sites. Couples, in my experience, don't want dozens of guys all over their car. It attracts unwelcome attention.

Sites get 'recommended' because some guy gets lucky one night, tells his pals, who tell their pals, who post something on the internet and, before you can say "'ello,'ello,'ello - what's going on here then", your 'recommended' site is alive with professional footballers and paparazzi.

Its so true, we havent been out dogging for ages for that very reason....

The odd bad apple spoils it for the rest, thinking they are cool by telling all about where-ever..

Our local spot has regular police visits now, park benches have been taking away and my fav picnic bench has gone too, mind it was very wobbly the last time

There are still dogging happening in the northeast but like good things you have to know the spots.

The reason spots get ruined is because people blab about them and before long there are hoardes of people there, drawing unwanted attention, being pushy, swamping couples, upsetting the locals who live round there, who get the old plod on the case.

The best bit of advice is if you want to go dogging, visit the sites on the internet, you may get lucky or you may not.

However you may have to wait there for a while, maybe for a couple of hours, so be prepared for a wait.

If people do turn up, wait and see what they do, don't be pushy, be social and chat to them and you may get some good knowledge of what is happening and which spots are the best as well as some fun and more importantly don't go opening your gobs to tell everyone where they are.

as peter said , but still light early on and id say most ppl got work in the morn so not much thru the week mostly w/ends but speaking for our selfs we rather place a add than turn up and chance it ,as a s ingle male dogger you take your chance just going out to see if you get lucky if it happens it happens ya cant complain thats the nature of the scene and "action" aint always gona happen why dont you try a swinging club on a greedy girls night the chances will be much better but still not garenteed

All very valid points. I think half the time people go aren't even serious doggers, just people going to see if anything happens for a laugh, but nevermind.

Also, it seems there are more gay men than anything else at a lot of places - which always just seems to bring a seedy feel to things!

The other night we had been out in Northumberland for a drink. Coming home we fancied a shag so we parked in a layby just off A1 and got on with it. As there was nobody watching were we doggers?

If not then surely any single guy waiting for a couple to turn up to a doggers location can't be a dogger until other turn up. So what is he? A lurker?

Here's two answers then.

No, you weren't doggers - I believe in some places the couple are known as doggees but that's just daft.

He's still a dogger even if he doesn't have anyone to watch.

So that explains Leeds Uniteds fall from Grace...so called professional footballers out dogging the night before the match.

Also explains why the team bus is always parked up in Golden Acre Park.

I'm not sure the dogging community has a word for that yet. Courting couples (ie non-doggers) are generally known as snoggers - even if they're going at it hell for leather.

Years ago when my parents were courting,there was nowhere to have a private moment,but there were lots of places that people used to go in their cars for a bit of a fumble in privacy

Lovers Lanes they used to call them,and there were often more than one car there with teenage sweethearts in them

When did it all change and become dogging?

I don't know much about the history of dogging as you can probably tell

I don't know about when it first started but the term dogging certainly became more in the public eye when stan Collymore's got caught doing it in 2004.

I guess the activity has gone on for as long as there have been motor cars but the earliest reference to dogging seems to date from WWII when kids took to 'dogging the footsteps' of courting couples to spy on their activities.

I dunno about elsewhere in the UK but in Glasgow dogging means playing truant from school.
