Blocking

I am curious at what point someone blocks another and would love to hear peoples _iews. I must admit to having block some folk, usually for rude emails or continual bombardment!

However, I have just found myself blocked! Sent a polite intro email, got a reply saying thanks but not their type, which is understandable as no matter how lovely my mum keeps telling me I am and that i am special I appreciate I am not everyone's cup of tea!

So anyway I went to reply to say thanks for letting me know and........ BLOCKED!

Now I will come to terms with this after 3 or 4 nights of sobbing into my pillow and cuddling up with my teddy but made me wonder at what point others block someone!

Look forward to some others _iew points!

If someone mails me and I know instantly they are not my cup of tea I will say a no thanks and then block as it saves them contacting me again showing me the same photo and showing an interest again. If I have said no thanks once its gonna be a no thanks again. Easier to block to save going through it all again

Perhaps this person has the same outlook, I can see it makes sense in some respects, perhaps someone has had a bad experience of a member not taking no for an answer. Just made me wonder while I sat here twiddling my er.... Thumbs on a Friday night! Hehe

They probably saw another e-mail from you and assumed it was the "Why dont you fancy me e-mail" so therefore blocked you. It is frustrating to get repeat e-mails of the same people so often easier to just block them

we agree with this... if someone clearly has not read our profile or they are not for us we will block just to save us (and them) the issue of the 'thanks, but no thanks' over and over again x

They blocked you cos some blokes message back after the no thanks and so the ping pong goes on.

Besides.....if they've said no they block to be sure you won't ask again.

You've been here long enough to have heard every reason for blocking. You've also read post where people say they don't respond because of people writing back, so my question would be after being told "thanks but no thanks" why you replied again?

Being a site supporter I would see if I had mailed them before so that is definitely not the case. And i was blocked after their reply so no chance to send another. Is that what you would do question why they didn't fancy you?

And anyway, I was asking about when others block not to get people second guessing why i was lol

I got blocked the other month, I was using my iPhone to browse profiles etc, I came across a couple looking to meet, so I winked them, they winked back at me, I went to press to send a message and accidentally pressed Wink,

Whilst writing a message to them explaining what I had done, I received an abusive message calling me a Wanker, total Prick, telling me I was BLOCKED for winking back a second time! Didn't even let me say sorry for my mistake!

We have stated in our profile what we are looking for.... if a poster cannot be bothered to read it before emailing us then they deserve to be blocked....example....we say not interested in meeting Bi-Sexual blokes, if one mails us then we ban him..... Karen smokes( disgusting habit but only 1-2 a day )...if a poster mails us that has "Will not meet smokers" on there profile we ban them...bit harsh maybe, but we have tried the not interested response because of this etc..., but they always reply saying they will make an exception...yeah ok...but we wont, we are not interested in being an exception !!!!.....anyway our profile does say "please read it" before replying !!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of the block button. It prevents further communication (sometimes accidental) if there is no interest. I wouldn't take it personally, just a statement of fact e.g. no interest thanks, you've been a dopey dickhead, you're boring now etc

Even I block the recipient now if my message is deleted without reply. It's nothing personnal again, it just saves further timewasting. Let's face it, there's enough of that already. Has it cost me any meets, I doubt it!

I did meet a couple in a club, turns out they had blocked me but we had kissed and made up before I found out

Without wanting to be rude in any way.... I find these 'thanks for your thanks-but-no-thanks' messages to be really annoying.

Females and couples get very many messages on here, and I would suggest that the best approach is NOT to reply to a thanks-but-no-thanks message x

O o O oo

The only time we block is if I need the person to know that I won't be repeating myself again so the conversation has now ended

I do unblock again when I know they must have got the message.

We have blocked a couple of people for asking us for a meet every week, saves them keep getting told no and us keep answering.

Correct me if i am wrong but they never said blocking is aggressive we all know its a tool, and wielded in different ways by different people.

i can see where you are coming from, and i can understand that for those with large inboxes the 'thanks for the no thanks' message may be overkill (and possibly irrellevant for sassy), but in the main i'm with juzie in that i think it's polite just to say thanks to someone even if their response is negative. (a) because i appreciate the recipients honesty and (b) i hope to show by example that not all single blokes on here respond to rejection with a torrent of abuse or ill manners.

Not that i am purporting to be a saint in any way, just that i am happy to appreciate i'm not everyones cup of tea

I am not a serial blocker. If I receive a mail that I'm not interested in I tend to ignore it, if they've gone to a lot of trouble with there email, then ill thank them for their interest, I send a pleasant but non committal message back. I've never had an abusive message and I don't block people who do message me. Just because I'm not gonna fuck them doesn't mean I won't ever communicate with them. If that was the case I'd block most of the site wouldn't I.

I do block guys that constantly hassle me every day with the inane hello how are you. I block people who message questioning me on why I've winked them and they've replied but we haven't set a date to meet. Their justification that I winked them means that sex is definite. News for those people, its likely it wasn't me that winked you, there are two of us, a wink is a bookmark to us, I'm not shaving my genitals in anticipation.

And I block people on the forum who look at my profile in order to pick it apart and use it against me to put a point across on a forum post. That's silly behaviour and I tend to unblock when the post is deceased.

I don't block for difference of opinion on the forum. Its just debate to me and I don't assume all the people I'm debating with want sex with me, if however they are trying to take the piss and look at my profile with a _iew to doing that, then see above paragraph

We are the same!

I honestly don't get why people get upset by being blocked on a site where, let's face it, we are all mostly strangers to each other!

If I have found us blocked by someone I've not give it an ounce of thought.... we have better things to do tbh. The person/couple that has blocked us have THEIR reasons for it and I am grateful that they have used a site tool to save us wasting time reading/looking at their profile and trying to make contact.

It must have had some affect on you OP or you wouldn't have started this thread. You also seem unable to accept that not everyone will act as you'd like.

I blocked people who sent messages telling me the type of people I should meet. I blocked people who have made racist comments on the forums, I have no interest in them but I have a goldfish memory and look at profiles if someone makes a comment that intrigues me etc. I also blocked after I'd sent a "thanks, but no thanks" message and they replied again. Simply because in my experience it NEVER stops there.

It ALWAYS leads to a follow up "hi, how are you" a few days later. It's not offensive, but when you have limited time you don't want to waste it on people you have no interest in meeting. Conversely, why waste time messaging people to be "polite" who have already said no when there's a whole site of potential playmates.

This is what happens when people won't accept a different _iewpoint as to whether they should meet or not!

The block button effectively ends the disagreement!

For those who have not seen my post in a similar thread in the Lounge, which is currently the last post in that thread.

And the "bite me" comment is in readiness for any would be backlash about me being too mean/unkind/not charitable/etc., as I do not give a toss about what others may think!

----------------------------------------

I block:

Peeps whose forums posts I do not like as I am unlikely to make friends or play with them

Peeps who send snipey sarcastic PMs instead of posting in the forums, as in the gutless twats

Peeps who send unpleasant PMs then block me, again, gutless twats, so I block back to prevent future contacts

Peeps who send me one liner messages asking to meet/shag/whatever, who clearly have not read my profile

Peeps message me with boring tedious one line messages, to which I would reply in as few words as possible, whom I am not interested in whatever they may have to offer

etc. etc...

Bite me!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'm agreeing with Sassy here. I appreciate that some people wish to demonstrate they have impeccable manners and show their mama brought them up right, but seeing a message, saying 'no thanks' then getting ANOTHER message from the same guy would be a bit annoying. Then, as people say, for some reason a 'no thanks' is interpreted as 'not right now' and I get a message from them again!

After a while it becomes creepy. It's like being chatted up in a bar and, after declining, the same guy coming back again and again. I don't mean to be dramatic, but a guy who has trouble with the word 'no' is not my sort at all.

why say you will leave the thread? its not mine its not like its my ball and you are not playing with it! That would be childish, its a post in a public forum open to others.

Enjoy "

Lol just let her leave if she wants to leave a thread lol .Leave a thread c'mon people

"Havent read profile - block.

"hey babe" messages - block

Contacting again after being told no - block.

We dont do it out of rudeness, we do it because our time on here is not meant for pandering to the incompetent and insistent behaviour of some people. We arent on here for them, we are on here for us!"

Agreed!

"I disagree.

It is my choice whether to use it or not, and I do not block without a reason, even if the reasons for blocking could be _iewed as over the top by the others.

The world would be a very dull place if we all think and behave the same way! "

I agree

Keeping a post on topic is like herding cats. Probably better to just sit back and watch the fur fly.

I have bisexual down, enjoy playing with both in 3sums. Any profile that says no bi men, I block them as i'm not what they want.

"If someone mails me and I know instantly they are not my cup of tea I will say a no thanks and then block as it saves them contacting me again showing me the same photo and showing an interest again. If I have said no thanks once its gonna be a no thanks again. Easier to block to save going through it all again we agree with this... if someone clearly has not read our profile or they are not for us we will block just to save us (and them) the issue of the 'thanks, but no thanks' over and over again "

i am very happy if someone blocks me after i have sent them a message

its not to polite but it is easy to understand!

many people i message, read it but then do nothing, that could mean many things.

personally i would like a not interested or leave this person alone ...button

that would take them off my lists when i am browsing, so i do not accidently pester them.

i have started to block people with profiles that suggest they would not like me, so i dont contact them, sounds strange but it works.

"I am curious at what point someone blocks another and would love to hear peoples _iews.

Thats happens to me alot mate so I can understand what you saying. Keep trying.

To the best of my knowledge i am only blocked by anybody by group ie too old, sex, single, damn fucking ugly etc. All perfectly understandable.

I dont appear to have been blocked from a profile, as i can see any and all that i have tried to look at.

How do i tell if i have been blocked as an individual?

"I don't want to talk to someone i block them. I dont want them looking at my profile ..I block them. I don't like someone... guess
