I've just been wondering whether people would rather choose to meet someone locally for convenience. Or would they choose to meet someone from further a field to protect their discretion.

I work 35 miles from home, so tend to meet around work. Can be a bit awkward in Tesco’s otherwise.

Generally I always look to meet local first, as it's more convenient with travelling, plus if meeting for a social I know nice bars or restaurants.

Problem i had is that I never find that many local meets ironically, and some of the best meets I've has have been further a field

I am the opposite- I would never meet where I work, that might be a disaster... I am not that worried about Tesco (go to asda anyway

We don’t meet local guys for this reason. Out of area guys work well though we tend to stick to clubs these days

I tend to meet about an hour ish away. My town is very much "every one knows everyone " and i grew up here. Whilst i am not embarrassed in the slightest it does giveme a relief that when it fucks up I won't have to see them around town x

We prefer a bit of distance, too many gossips where we live and we'd rather not be the subject of it.

We will have judged they are discreet /similar to us by chatting before a meet.

We meet a couple not far from us and never had any isssues.

I do meet locally but am wary about discretion after an incident a few years ago. I met a woman in my local pub. She was half cut to start with and proceeded to get steaming d*unk and was asking everyone at the bar "are they on fabs"!!!

We've barely that in a coastline, so has to be local for us. Trips to the big island are pretty expensive, so would do club meets if there, or if we are staying somewhere, we'd try and arrange something.

I used to think along the lines of being too close, until I met and played with someone about a mile away. If everyone thinks the same, i.e. discretion I no longer see it as a problem.

While it wasn't Tesco, we did bump into each other at the tills of the local co-op. Apart from a hi, how are you, as you would to a friend, that was it.

Perhaps that depends on how 'adult' the individuals are though.

I have met very local and had about a two hour drive and anything in between.

Not meeting locally for discretion purposes is different depending on how much population density there is where you live. If you live in a large urban area I don't think this is an issue.

In smaller areas, I would agree that not local is perhaps preferable. I certainly have no problems in travelling for a good meet. Personally, I have no qualms meeting someone local, provided they appreciate some measure of discretion just as I do.

Despite the fact plymouth is a big village, I stick to locals generally. It just gets too complicated otherwise.

Yes of course AND where they’re living. No locals please, really don’t want to bump into you when out and about, real life and our ‘fantasy’ life we’d like to keep separate.
