I just got abuse for sending a ‘no thanks’ to a polite message.

Apparently, it’s not nice and I should have just ignored him!

I love Fab, you just never know

He was mad because I replied to him and told me I should have just deleted his message without replying.

I'm indifferent to a reply saying "no thanks".

Though I don't know why someone would bother doing so. You can simply delete the message and they'll get the drift.

Have you actually read the threads where we are all called ignorant, up ourselves and rude for doing just that?

Why would you listen to the opinions of a vindictive, spiteful child?

I wouldn't. Delete and move on.

I was simply pointing out the irony of it, I’m quite used to what happens here and I have a healthy block list. He didn’t like the fact I replied with a no thanks and said I should have ignored him and not replied.

Not fucked if you do, not fucked if you don’t.

Wait until they forget, unblock you and try again.

All after having a rant and abusing you.

Agree with the "ah well" sentiment.

But it did cost her...it cost her time, effort and being exposed to unwarranted abuse...

Its your way? Jeez.

Nobody has to reply. Nobody. Once you have sent your message it no longer belongs to you, nor do you have control over what happens to it.

Most of us agree that if someone has read our profiles and constructed a nice message, we reply. The rest get ignored, which is everybodys prerogative.

That twat gave me abuse because he thinks I should have ignored him.

I hate that expression 'manners cost nothing'. Why don't single guys understand that manners cost time at the very least? Even the queen doesn't personally reply to all her mail - she has to hire a team to do that for her.

Being an adult site for adults, you’d expect people to handle rejection. Sadly this just proves some people are masquerading as adults. Sounds like you had a lucky escape.

I wouldn't abuse someone for saying 'thanks, but no thanks', but I too would prefer a delete than a reply if I'm not their type. Have no desire for an in box full of rejection letters. So seeing as different people prefer different responses, what is actually rude? What gives people the right to decide what the correct etiquette everybody is different?

A number of jobs I've applied for in the past state that if the applicants hear nothing within 2 weeks then the applicant has not been shortlisted for an interview. Were they rude not to waste valuable resources on sending formal rejection letters to hundreds of applicants?
