So tomorrow I will be seeing Blade Runner 2049 on my own in the cinema, so my question is ...

A man sitting alone in a cinema is it a particularly sad sight, how many of us are comfortable going alone to venues in which couples are generally seen.

I feel better in an independent cinema chain especially if I'm watching a subtitled film, but certainly wouldn't see a blockbuster on a Saturday night.

What have you done alone and is it liberating or a bit

I've done it before don't worry haha you may feel weird with it but trust it happens more than you realise lol. It's a weird and wonderful experience as you are alone but you still get that shared veiwing experience if that makes sense XD good luck

I go most places on my own. I couldn't give a shit if they think I'm a sad old cow, I'll never see them again.

I've been to swingers clubs on my own - find it much more fun that going with a plus-one who needs looking after all night and it means I can do whatever I please.

Solo cinema trips are awesome - I don't have to share the popcorn with anyone!

Beyond the shadows.

When its a film I really want to watch, I prefer to go watch it on my own. I really get annoyed when people try to talk to me when I'm watching a film

I'm the same. Don't have many real female friends so I go alone too. I like my own company so that's all that matters.

At an age now that I don't have a massive hang up over it, walked up Snowdon (solo) a few weeks ago and felt good about it but as it gave me time to think was wondering what else I should do alone.

Next year intend to tour Europe for two weeks on my Motorbike by myself so I suppose just getting psychologically prepared

I do it nearly every week, I love it. I go to the early showing and its quite empty then, I get the whole row to myself usually. I don't care if I look sad, i go loads of places by myself now. All my friends have to ask their husbands if they can go out, mostly they watch Eastenders and Corrie instead, while the hubbies pick their noses and fart. XXX

Going on holiday alone - now that's an amazing thing to do! Eat when you want, sleep in or get up when you want, meet people and have company when you want it but have quiet time when you don't. I love it.

I have no trouble doing stuff alone. Alone doesn't equal lonely.

...or sad.

When working away I have a table for one at a restraunt; felt a little the first time but it's nice to sit and eat in peace and quiet sometimes.

I go all sorts of places on my own! Pictures, seaside, I've had 4 holidays abroad in the last 12 months alone, it doesn't bother me at all.

I feel this is my time to experiment to 'find' myself, maybe I read too much or watch those films in which someone goes off on a solo adventure and discovers the inner self..,Or I could just be talking bollocks !

But this alone thing, if, as I have seen with the majority (if not all) previous comments, seems to be a good liberating experience

The cinema is the easiest place to be alone - just you your snacks and the film

When you're alone why should you miss out on things!

I go to the cinema alone all the time- eat out alone, travel alone and shop alone.

I don't have many friends in my area anymore that want to do stuff so I refuse to sit in and be a recluse!

Go for it OP you won't regret it x

I love doing things alone sometimes! I took myself to a gig alone and felt a bit funny about it before, but loved it when I was there and got to dance and sing and forget about anybody around me.

Maybe there are some advantages. It means you don't have to eat McDonald's
