Hi there.

Having been to Eureka several times and realising people travel hours to get there I was wondering if there are many people in the Stafford area who would be interested in a similar place there.

Im looking into opening one and hoping to get some feedback as Eureka is the only place of its kind in the coutry.

Thanks

lol - i thought you meant the childrens museum! The club you're promoting isn't that different to the usual clubs. Z

It is very different. Eureka has a swimming pool outdoors thats heated, there are always lots of people no matter when you go and the atmosphere is more relaxed that your usual swingers club.

Eureka also charge the same price for a whole day and evening party as most clubs do just for an evening party.

Ive met a lot of people who travel from the midlands there rather than going to the local clubs so it must have an attraction that they are not finding locally

Opening a new club, is a tricky proposition regardless of the type that your talking about.

The market for this type of club is the swinging / naturism cross over market. While Eurekas is popular with both, it's not always rammed to the hilt, but its certainly more popular in the summer.

If your going to open something up North, and you had the money to invest in a place with a similar set up, then your best bet as a financial proposition would be to open a club that appeals to the widest market possible. That means a dedicated singles and a deadicated couples night, and a whole host of other things you could do. However any new venue, unless it is on a par with something like fun4two in Holland, is unlikely to be able to pack them in more than three days a week, and even getting three healthy days will be very hard, unless you really go state of the art.

Even clubs with great facilities will suffer terribly if they are not properly run. (Its happening to two of our favourite clubs right now, painful to watch)

Eureka may well attract people during the day, but they have a long standing customer base to draw from, as do Chams, which is almost the only club in the UK to be open all week, again its long standing, has constantly reinvested money into the venue, and has a loyal customer base and it doesnt rip them off.

You need to visit several clubs, we would also recommend you goto Uptopias in the North East before you embark on anything, they target a similar market.

You might consider getting Utopia up and running again ? It closed down last year. Situated on the A5 west of the M6.

Just a thought as it had the indoor pool and sauna facilities ?

I don't think Eureka's is the only naturist spa/swingers club ... Kestrels near Heathrow is also a swingers day spa (which becomes a more traditional 'club' at night and changes its name to AbFabs). From what I've heard, it has better facilities than Eureka's (although I've never been to Eureka's so can't speak from personal experience). Someone said overt playing is frowned upon and there are 'mattresses' dotted around in the woods - not my idea of fun tbh but each to their own. Maybe you should try visiting Kestrels as well so you can form an opinion drawn from both clubs.

Kestrels pool has a sliding cover, which makes for more use on wet/cooler days.

The inside of Kestrels is well above that of Eurekas.

Where Eurekas scores is the size of the grounds, and the overnight accomodation.

Thanks for all your comments. Eureka DEFINITELY doesnt have mattresses in the woods As they have acres of land there some people who like the "outdoors" do go into the woods and there are some areas that have benches etc for that purpose.

In my opinion abfabs comes nowhere near Eurekas but at the end of the day it all comes down to what each person likes.

I intend to persue this further over the next few weeks and im looking for suitable premises.

These places are easier to open with the right backing than would be expected, as long as you do it the right way.

Thanks to you all again.

I mentioned mattresses in the woods as someone who's been to Eureka told me this. I personally didn't know how it could work with damp / dirt etc but hey - I couldn't call them a liar to their face if I haven't been there myself

Even in the absence of said mattresses, I wouldn't want to have to limit myself to either a 'shag in the woods' or taking someone to my cabin. I prefer the option for group fun in comfort but as we've both said - each to their own. I've also heard the décor at Eurekas is tired and that the clientèle are predominantly ... errm ... on the older side of mature shall we say (again - all hearsay as I haven't been myself).

But I'm sure if you were starting your own club the décor would have your stamp on it so that wouldn't be an issue and people of all ages would want to check it out so again - not an issue.

I wish you every success with your new venture if you decide to move ahead with your plan.

Went to Eureka for the first time and would love to go again, but the 330 mile round trip is a bit of a bind, so would love to have something a bit closer.

One thing though. The one improvement on Eureka that I would suggest, is that if it's supposed to be naturist / nudist (/ + swingers) then PLEASE do a better job of enforcing the naturist / nudist part. There were far too many fully clothed people at Eureka who didn't give a hoot about strolling around the grounds in hoodies and jeans, which does kind of ruin the spirit of what the club is set out to be. A " no clothes beyond this point" barrier of some kind would be a good idea from the outset IMHO.

Eurekas does also have playrooms.

I agree that its rather dated and plenty of room for improvement and not nearly enough playrooms there, Im sure I can improve greatly on that.

Planing a trip up north for the next week so hopefully I will find the right place to make ths a big success.

Thanks for all your input and I will keep you informed and look forward to seeing you all there once its up and running
