Somewhere / Everywhere /Kinksville

...is you!

There seem to be a few folk on here that like to pass that buck - or try - onto other people.

It's a lost cause I know

Just annoys me when they come on here moaning. I think, well you shouldn't have put yourself in that situation in the first place. Don't exonerate yourself of all blame, your welfare is primarily your responsibility.

I put myself in all sorts of stupid situations, the trick is to not beat yourself up too much about, don't moan too much about it and get yourself the heck out of it... When you've done that multiple times you then stop and think before you re-do something stupid I find lol... X

East Sussex

It's very noticeable in wider life too. Everything is somebody else's fault.

Massive credit card bill? Not their fault, the credit card company shouldn't have given them such a high limit.

Childhood obesity? Not the parents fault, junk food shouldn't be so cheap or advertised during children's tv.

I never blamed him for my getting home or not i asked if he could class himself a gentleman.. Or was his behaviour ill- mannered ..

Think about it happening to someone close to you..

Hhhmmm it's your own fault my dear

I think there's something quite liberating about being responsive for yourself and not relying on anyone.

I can see what your saying and completely understand, but this doesn't work in all situations?

I wholeheartedly agree we should be responsible for our actions to the best of our ability, however we cannot control the actions of others?

Is it my fault if I cross the road at a pedestrian crossing and get knocked down by someone speeding? Is it my fault if I am walking down the street and get mugged?

Just examples but what I'm trying to illustrate is we cannot have control over others actions

But we can have control over our behaviours and the choices that we make that will ultimately influence the actions of others. I think this thread is more about that. X

Of course. Using the 2 examples I have, if I cross the road on a blind bend I'm not looking at the risk to myself. I get the original post but to say everyone should be solely responsible for what happens to them is wrong.

In the case of sexual assault, women are often blamed, they should've taken a different route home, worn something different etc. But essentially that's detracting from the fact someone else sexually assaulted them?

We can modify risk but not change the actions of others
