Speculative messages advertising paying events

London

Just received a message inviting us to a party for which a fee is charged. This sticks in the gullet somewhat as the person sending the message is essentially using fabs for free commercial advertising. And the fees charged for this event clearly show that it is a commercial venture and not one where everyone just contributes to expenses.

It seems to me that those providing commercial services should pay a fee to fabs to access the site. Anyone who doesn't pay the fee and who advertises commercially should be banned.

Thoughts?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Fab doesn't allow commercial activities so report the message/profile and let them investigate.

It's £60 for single guys. I highly doubt anyone will eat or drink that much.

Your wildest Dreams

I was invited to a party in May and was £120 for couples. I paid £60 by bank transfer as it was a fully established party and had friends that had been previously, even in veris. I had an operation booked 4weeks prior to attending but it for pushed back so wud only have given me 2weeks recovery. I explained everything to organizers and they sed they wil giv me the money back but they are ignoring me now! The profile is stil on fab but not been online for months and also ignored my WhatsApp messages and now blocked me! Never ever again am I doing that xx

Just looked through our friends list and there are about half a dozen profiles for clubs that are run as businesses, and events that require a contribution. The prices are not on the profiles, but mist say message for details. Fab seems to allow these clubs to advertise on Fab in the form of having a profile.

The sad fact is that there is a much higher proportion of dodgy people in the sex industry than in normal life. I would never pay anything upfront as there is a very high risk you will be conned.

Swinging is not just about meeting privately,I personally will only go to parties/clubs

Party hosts have rules to follow on fab and the biggest is not to send unsolicited mail (invites without being asked)

We are allowed to advertise through forums,meets/organised meets, statuses,an unobtrusive wink

Then those that are interested can message or wink the party host to then open the door for an invite or put there name down on forums

If hosts follow the rules and don't bother random people, then we are allowed to be here as much as anyone else

I personally don't see the problem, a paid organised party would surely be a preference whether you attend or not based on the fee being charged. It (may) also mean there's a degree of quality to the event too.

Maybe Fab could have a paid events ad section, where they charge the advertiser a fee for placing the ad.

I got an unsolicited message. Hence my post.

I do think though that if you are running a venture seeking to make a profit and you are using fabs to advertise your venture, you really should pay for the advertising, as you would anywhere else. I am surprised fabs don't charge a fee for that.

Its often hard to know if the aim of the party is to make a profit or charge enough to cover overheads, venue rental. I once did some calculations on what it costs to run a large scale party, and I suspect not many make a profit. Entry fee is usually described as 'contribution' not 'ticket price'.

Mrs"

I get party invites alot because that's what I like,it's written all over my private profile I like them

I prefer that than unsolicited private meets messages + cockpics

It's a huge can of worms x

As for my paticular case i am a non-profit making host advertising one party every other month (not too much it wouldnt be worth paying a fee any more than the silver I do already out of my pocket)

I give the guest's discounted entry which was discussed I could keep,I chose not to.

As for the club I host at it's an entrance fee for use of facilities,dj,staff and food they supply on the night

My party is still commercial as a club and as said above I follow the rules, and never bother random people
