I wish I'd lied now like most other people.

I seem to have made a big mistake when I joined Fab, in that I used my correct age. As a 55 year old male it's frighteningly difficult to find women to message, and those that I can will be out of bounds next year, as they have 55 as a cut-off.

My OH has a female profile, and she's convinced that many messages she's receiving are from guys much older than me, and her cut off is 50!

I tend to feel age is arbitrary; some older fems are stunning. Older guys can be too. Should I have lied like loads of other folks do? Does this make a mockery of the site?

(Yes, I know, I can't even message my own wife, but I can get her on Whatsapp)

You should be yourself.

Whilst my age allows me to fall into many ladies filters on this site, it doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to sleep with them.

There will be someone out there for you, be who you really are not something you think you should be to get you a meet.

I passed the magic decade age a year or so into my fab journey. I sometimes kind of wish I too had shaved a few years off like a lot of other people seem to have done, but if someone wants to discount me due to my age then that's their choice and I would be taking it away from them by lying. Or at least that's how I see it.

No. Always be truthful.

So some women are out of reach due to their preferences, there are a lot more who have higher age preferences.

Young, old, fat, thin etc., not everyone will have a universal appeal.

I get this. You see a sexy person you fancy with a great profile to boot, go to message them and bam! their age preferences is like a punch to the gut. My target age range really is 30 to 45 but I've extended either end from 25 to 50 just in case I miss out on somebody special. Age is but a number really though?

Yes sometimes being over a certain age is a problem to some people n alot people have age limits on their profiles. That's ok but it makes us over the limit think we are past it n perhaps lie about our age.

If someone has set age filters it's important to them. It's creepy when people start arguing against other people's preferences for who they want to meet.

Just because someone was for example within my age range, doesn't mean I'd definitely fuck them. I've met people outside my usual age range because I like them a lot. I don't like disrespectful people. Ever.

Honesty is always the best policy in my opinion.

Even if I was attracted to them, finding out they lied abou something so basic in itself would then be a turn off.

There has to be a cut off somewhere. We rarely find those over 55 attractive, but there are some really hot older people on here that we would be interested in if we met at a club.

You look really good in your photos, so clubs might be the way to go.

Age is a preference like so many others, beards, shaven, black, white etc. I'm now a couple of years over 50, just back from taking time out from the site and am slightly surprised because the age limit seems to have risen. Locally at least. What many people forget is that with age comes experience, not just sexually, but in the way you treat people. Age to me is irrelevant if there is a match. Yes, there are many profiles that I think I may be of interest only to find I am outside of their limit. But I'm sure that could work the other way too, eg guys messaging when my profile says I am straight. My advice is to be honest with your age. I've never lied about it and managed to get meets. Even been told I look younger in the flesh. If you did have a meet after lying about your age and were found out, I feel you would feel worse than you do now. Better to be turned down online than to your face and being called a liar, surely?

I'm almost 53 and don't lie about that. Someone's either going to find me attractive or they're not. I *am* 52 and can't change that. I'd feel uncomfortable if I'd 'hooked' someone on the basis of a lie and would have to concentrate far too hard when chatting in case I let slip something which gave me away. Equally, I wouldn't be very impressed if I found someone had lied to me about their age ... it may seem irrelevant to some but trust is very important to me in this lifestyle and I might wonder what else they weren't being truthful about.

I'm 60 though have been told I look younger.

I have put 60 on my profile. I feel like I should have put 55 as a lot of people I've found & would like to contact have put 55 only. Very fustrating.

I see that you can change your age once,but in my case 60 is part of my user name so shot my self in the foot.

Most guys we've met have shaved a few years off their age on their profile. I routinely ask on a first meet now. This sort of thing causes shock horror on the forums, but doesn't seem to be a particularly unusual practice in reality.

I believe on being honest about your age. I've met men whoobviously lied and it has really pissed me off. I wish I wasn't 40. But I'm not going to lie about it. I'd rather be honest from the outset. Even if it means I get less interest because of my age.

I met a guy once he said he was 45 he was actually 65!!!! Oap! Was so annoyed, he'd used old photos, I mean really old! Then he couldn't understand why I wouldn't meet him again, my age is correct, why lie? X

Interesting post never really thought about it until now, pleased we put what we thought was a sensible age range into our preference choice. On our travels we've met many interesting, special people all worth hanging out with, of both sexes and the age rage has been 18 to into their 90's some of the old vets have some tales to tell.

Why we try never to judge a book by it's cover and age really is just a number.

Good luck hope you meet sensible open minded people, your post got us thinking maybe others too.

All the potential what ifs, be true to yourself and your age and if someone rules you out merely because if your age then that's simply their thinking based on thier wants and experiences, it's their loss, this place is the proverbial box of chocolates although I always pick the nutty ones

And quite often when you see a face pic or actually meet them they clearly are not the age they are claiming to be. I personally think that my OH and myself look good for our age and we do try to look after ourselves.

I'd rather go with someone of your age than s younger guy. We are not all into whipper snappers on here

As a guy who likes older women I do wish I could and a few years on as I do find there are plenty of older women who don't associate with younger men, although I have found a few gems . I think I would be found out if I had changed my age to much so I keep it real and see where life takes me.
