I always think its overly optimistic to expect women and couples to risk spending their time asking single guys for information they haven't bothered providing on their profiles

Optimistic or not. My tastes and kinks arent for public knowledge unless i choose to pipe up on a thread or discuss during private messages. Part of the fun for me is learning about people through chat. If people dont like that then so be it.

I'm not a fan of ambiguity .....

It doesn't capture my interest ....

Not sure many on here read profile content, but the ones that do will, I'm sure, respond better to some information about you, your likes/dislikes and maybe a bit of your personality.

OP - you've put a 1 line profile description, not sure what you hope to achieve from that.

Would you look more closely at

"House for sale"

"Car for sale"

If you were in the market for either, would you delve any further from those descriptions?

I always read profiles. I read them before I read the message, but like many people, I look in stealth mode. If there's nothing enticing on a profile there's no point chatting any further is my opinion. Not everyone will have that attitude, but I'd suspect most do.

There and to the left a bit

OP not only do women read profiles but men do too (well some of us do anyway) - they're your shop window that you can set out however you choose but ask yourself this - would you go into your shop and buy something based on what you are displaying?

If the honest answer is no (and it should be) then it's time to get window dressing
