So met a lady on here. No details will be disclosed of course. Talked a few times over the phone and text. Seemed to be getting on really well?

Offered to buy lunch at a gorgeous pub in the new forest. Booked a table, sent the details, showered, ironed my clothes and drove to the pub. Agreed on a time to meet.

Get a text, 10mins away. 30mins later, still waiting. Then get a text, have you blocked me, I'm stood at the bar. Go in, she's not there? Wait another 30mins, tried calling and texting 100 times?

Strange right.

Is this a thing? As in, a wind up or a kick thing? To my knowledge, I'm not due any revenge?

Despite not meeting had a lovely drive and saved on buying lunch I suppose! Just bizarre!!!

Just love that guys think I have nothing better to do or that I materialise at the venue and it's not taken time effort and fuel to drive x number of bloody miles!

I know right! One hour there and one hour back ha ha but the New Forest is gorgeous and I highly recommend the Fleurs De Lys, Lymington. Hopefully, I might actually take a real person there someday???

That hasn't happened. I was actually getting worried for her? I left voicemails and text messages just to let me know she was safe? Simply insane behaviour. Why miss out on a free lunch and some okay conversation???

We once arranged a social meet and although the guy was actually at the bar and had seen us come in he didn't make himself known. When it appeared that he was late we texted him and were quite surprised to see him just walk over from the bar (he didn't look around so obviously knew we were there). We wondered if he'd intended to just watch us sit and wait but thought we might have spotted him.

We wouldn't have minded but the drinks were really expensive

Have had people give a postcode (sometimes with a number) then not answer/reply when I've got there or given a wrong address.

Mr N and I met via an online dating site. We made a date at a lovely pub deep in the countryside which we both knew.

Thank God I checked alternate routes (I'm a belt and braces girl) and discovered that there was another pub in the same area with the same name. He meant that Wellington Arms!

We would have been sitting in different pubs furious. Instead we are celebrating our second anniversary tomorrow and very very deeply in love.

why didn't you just have lunch anyway? we always arrange a social somewhere we'd choose to spend time in case they don't turn up...which luckily hasn't happened to us yet

For some here its like a power trip and will never meet you and that's what they get off on .... Chat on the phone see them on web cam and get them too wave as could be a video even after that can still be a fake . Some are married or dating and its all a dream and they like the ping pong letters going back and forth and when it comes to the meet no way can they do it not even a social as its all in there mind and not real.

This one made me think. My first reaction was that it had never happened to me but then I thought back and of course it has. Back in the early days of me travelling this road including one couple who claimed to have been there waiting but clearly were not.

These things happen I fear and the advice given already is spot on - as used to be a cry in a former life - LUDO; look up and drive on.

I think it is somehow. It was so evident she wasn't looking at her texts. I used WhatsApp, two grey ticks, mobile went straight to voicemail?

I've put an update on my status as I don't want anyone else who is genuine to have their time wasted. It's just wrong and immature in my opinion.

Anyway, happy fabbing peeps and thanks for the input. It's been an eye opener

In that situation I would usually say it was a bloke on the wind up, but if you spoke on the phone...

All I can suggest is that you were being cat fished. She wasn't as attractive as her photos but got off on fantasising about meeting.

That reminds of a meet i had arranged with couple in Huntingdon,gave me instructions to call when on outskirts of town which duly did,then told to go to laybay and text again,then park in road adjacent to some shops.

Then nothing for 20 mins after telling him i was there,then got text saying having trouble getting one of their kids to go to school,they would get back to me 15 mins later still no news so texted them he replied didnt think it was going to happen,but if I fancied a bj we could go somewhere.my response was a polite thanks but no thanks

First time I ever got stood up was recently - chatted here on fab, then chat with lady on phone. Then agreed to meet. On the day of the meet. Total radio silence - irritating

Really? That's interesting and I do get it. It was a sincere offer as we had spoken a few times over a 10 day period and it felt a nice thing to do. How wrong I was. If I hadn't spoken to her I wouldn't have offered to buy lunch. Also, I seriously wouldn't expect anything from anyone just because I got the meal lolol...Maybe others would, never thought about that though.
