Perhaps I'm not feeling the love tonight, I mean it's not like me to rant but....

Commenting on a thread is a comment. It is NOT an open invitation to start bugging us with messages we do not want

And then they think you've got something to chat about.

I did complain to one tonight and he got angry and blocked me.

Gotta like them at all

I prefer the person to comment on the thread. Unless they are the perfect man and match my profile 100% and it's how we got to notice each other.

It may just be me of course

No it's not you, I prefer that to. If someone messages me because of a thread I'll still look at his profile, see he's miles away, roll my eyes, send a short reply or delete and then just delete!!!

"The introduction threads can be the worst "

The introduction or as I call them the 'me me me attention seeking' threads really are the worst.

I don't mind that so much....

but when We've looked at someone's profile and they see we've looked...

.... there's a reason we didn't wink or message you... so why message us?

They take it as you're interested - now that's confusing and how the male brain works

See i always take that as not interested, unless someone looks on a regular basis. Recently I've had someone send a friend request and still not reply to message lol

I often send a pm if it's something I don't want others to view on a thread.

Sorry if that offends

Could be right, it was a couple with an apparently straight male though. Slightly confusing!

Also sorry for accidently doing the annoying thing you created this thread for lol

Can't say I've ever had that happen, but I've had loads because I've looked at a profile. Should activate stealth mode really.

Hiding in the shadows

Apart from 'game' threads, I've only ever contacted someone directly after a post, and that was another female.

I just wanted to tell her I thought her post was brilliant & she'd handled a situation perfectly.

But I've been on the receiving end of far too many unwelcome messages. That bore no relation to the thread I'd posted in

.

I don't send messages that often but 90% of the messages I send are relating to something they have said in threads or status related

This really gets on my nerves. If I comment on a hairy man thread saying nice thread I suddenly get loads of messages with pics! Did i ask for them no!

It shouldn't be allowed unless they have asked for it

Simple solution

Posting on threads will bring additional attention, goes with the territory, if you don't want single guys messaging you about threads, simply block single guys from messaging you, why complain when a solution is available? X

I do this sometimes but only because I don't want to hog the thread or send it in a related but slightly different direction.

I hear your OP, and have just messaged you.

To be honest, the majority of my unsolicited messages from women come from forum posts, the forum seems to be a way ladies decide that they like the humour of s guy and would like to know more. I'm sure the sheer volume of messages based on your forum posts is greater as a lady, but surely there could be some gold amongst them?

It's hardly the end of the world. If people don't want mail just use mail filters.

I've had nothing but friendly messages as a result of posts I've made. Even if they're miles away, I appreciate the positivity

What shouldn't be allowed? People mailing? Block them all. It's simple.

it does seem to be getting worse, I've had to post a message on a thread asking not to be PM'd and please post on thread
