Travelling job..

So I have a job where I travel lots and cover this whole country. I get to see some places where in normal life I would probably never venture to but the downside is I am alone in doing so. I have made a couple of friends along the way but it would be fantastic to meet a friendly couple or (unicorn alert) a single lady, even if for a pint or dinner. Yes play would obviously be fantastic but not essential. Any ideas on how to approach couples / ladies in advance?
