My closest and most valued mate is gay. I'm watching this on bbc2 and I just don't get it. I don't know why it's an issue or why people need to "come out". recently he's been telling me how he wishes he was straight and how life would be easier. What the fuck I'm straight and women have been nothing but trouble!. Is it just me or are people that stupid nowadays that they can't just live and let live

it's really sad isn't it. why do people give a fuck who someone else fucks? one of my best friends is oh I am getting confused now, we had a debate about the other day if she is a lesbian or bi. I just have to remember that she might find it amusing in a different way of I show of my newest underware to her

Ah ya see now I don't do that! He openly jokes and takes the piss in public and with my family to the point they have recently questioned my sexuality!. He introduces me as his "straight mate" all the time. I never introduce him as my "gay mate" not intentionally it's just the way I am.

On the whole society is much more tollerant towards gay people than before. As late as 1955 men were jailed just for being gay and gay men got married and had kids to cover it up. My friends dad was one man who did that.

There is still gay prejudice though from ignorant people. At the end of the day it's what a person is like that counts. XXX

I think everyone has a different way of dealing with it. Some people feel that their sexuality defines who they are and others that it's just one aspect of their personality. They are an individual who happens to like their own gender. However, for some that doesn't really tell the whole story because some like both either equally or to some degree. I think many people fall outside of the categories of gay or straight. In the end does it really matter? Why do we seem obsessed by having to put people into categories?

I watched that programme. Yes, it's something I could be attacked for. So I'm living in the same situation as someone who could be attacked for their race. Only they don't have the option of staying in the closet.

I saw the terrorist bombing in Manchester. An atrocity by anyone's standards, but still over 99% of the people who attended that concert lived to see the following day.

So you can't stop you living your life the way you want to live it, just because there are lottery odds (not the jackpot) of something bad happening. There are, however, probably times and places where it makes sense to keep a low profile.

Sophie Lancaster was beaten to death for being a goth. Sadly, there are animals in this world who walk on two legs rather than four. The pack mentality is strong. The desire to assert 'alpha male' is important to them. And there's no real option to bring down a gazelle, so they have to find other ways to prove it.

Any one of us could be a target, in the wrong place at the wrong time. So no, I won't let this push me back into a closet, and I find it thoroughly disheartening that anyone would.

Attacks on people for what ever reason is wrong.

Society has the veneer of acceptance and the law has changed but sadly I suspect that this is trite "Liberalism" there is still a lot of unfounded fear of gay people.

As for being Bi or Lesbian again its an individuals "choice" as it were. We are who we are we fuck who we fuck we love who we love.

The thing that gets my goat more is when people say they have a personal preference against any group without really thinking about that expressed ,"preference" as if members of that group are either all the same or alien beings.

I fish in the whole pond not just one corner of it. There are people who attract me and those who do not, but that is not based on any global concept of who anyone is. It is based on the reality of each individual.

People on here would have a better time if they just got that in thier heads.

Tell your mate that he is who he is you are who you are (good looking by the way) and stop introducing you as a sexuality and start remebering your his mate.

I think people should fuck who they are attracted to. There's whole groups of people that I'm not attracted to and I won't ever consider fucking them.
