Are there any guidelines for the use of forum threads to arrange Socials?

We've recently had a flame war when the Liverpool and Leeds Socials were arranged on the same night, even though they were 70 miles apart.

Another has developed today when someone dared to arrange a Club Meet a week before, and over 90 miles from, a Social.

If you're going to a Social, book it in the thread. If you can't go, but wish you could go and join all your friends, let folks know in the thread. If you've no intention of going, know of a much better social in a different place, at a different time, or both, why not keep it to yourself?

Isn't swinging, and therefore Fab Swingers, supposed to be fun?

Yeah , the Leeds and Liverpool threads got hairy at times

I am not sure why, as they were at least 80 miles apart.

There isn't any guidelines for any social dates though, as Admin have nothing to do with them as they are off site....maybe the organisers could arrange them without the dates clashing.

"maybe the organisers could arrange them without the dates clashing."
That doesn't seem to be enough!

But surely there are clubs and socials all open on the same night, and there must be socials organised on other sites for the same night or a date close together.

Maybe an organiser will come along and tell us why it is a problem

That is what I always did when I use to arrange socials... It was almost like a respect thing in that there are only so many people at any particular day, so why make people choose... And also respect for other organisers in that they are tough to do! See you say 70 miles as if it is a large thing... On the motorway that is still only an hour and for people who live in-between that's going to less that that! I think it is an awful situation to put people in the middle of!

As a general rule if someone has gone to the effort of booking a venue for a particular day I wouldn't then choose that day, but this is what happens when ppl think locally, because if I had the chance I would love to do more travelling

It's also the reason I would love some sort of social diary or calendar on the site so people can see which dates have been taken and location (town/city) and arrange more carefully

i suppose people get a bit territorial,i thinks fabs suggestion is a good one as it wud be hard to check every event to make sure u dont clash.

when organising the BBW ones i do try my best yo make sure its not too close in date to others purely as it gets tough to go to them all cost wise for many of us so if not too close it gives more a chance to attend all the ones they want to

although i was asked to change a date once as it was in the same month as a social from the other site but i pointed out that the majority that attend are fabsters and its a club meet not a social so it wasn't like socials clashing, i wasn't trying to be awkward i just didn't see how it was a problem as the main ones that attend from there don't tend to go to the socials anyhoo

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Luckily (or not) I was abroad that date so missed all the aggro, but I cannot see why there would have been a problem with two socials in two cities clashing. Now if it was Liverpool and Manchester, or Leeds and Bradford.....

I am arranging the next York one and hope to hell there isn't a Leeds, Hull, or Harrogate (lol) social that night, but the night was picked ages ago as being the best night for most people. If people cannot/don't want to attend, a polite no is sufficient!

I do remember the Huddersfield social also being that date til someone let them know and they moved it without fuss.
