Is it just me ????? So many people on here can not spell. I know this isn't a pre requisite for a swinging site but wow it amazes me that many simple words are spelt so so wrong.

Just a pet peeve. Sorry for being a nerd.

I'm sure there are many things that I'm crap at, however I just thought I'd put this out there to see what others thought. I'm not suggesting that poor spelling makes you a bad person. It was just something that I have noticed. ( changing a light switch is not something I excel in. Last time I tried I electrocuted myself ).

I don't mind odd numbers as long as they are a multiple of 5, otherwise it has to be even. Obviously.

I think there's a difference between a small error here and there and a piece of text that is so poorly written that it hardly makes sense. Everybody makes mistakes but, the latter is unfortunately very common in this site. And that is very off putting for me and many other people.

Agreed. But some words have similar spellings but sound the same, but it is the context in which they each apply that confuses people.

That stems from education lapses which have declined in recent years, that is, English Language isn't taught in so much depth as it was in my days at secondary school.

15 is a nice looking number. The 5 has good curves. Depending on the font used, of course.

We all here judge people on their messages and profiles to decide weather to meet them or not. It doesn't mean that it is a good thing to point fingers to others. But it should also be ok for some members of the community to express their frustration about a common pattern they dislike.

Obviously, I only meet people that I'm attracted to. And yes, I feel less attracted to someone who can't spell. Just because it's a sex site, doesn't mean that the attraction has to be only physical.

Some very intelligent peeps have dyslexia, some people can't spell but can communicate satisfactorily, some people type too fast and auto correct incorrectly corrects words that would easily be picked up if I actually bothered to re-read posts before posting... The whole thing is part and parcel of modern day life, un-user friendly technology and the fast pace of modern society lol

I am a hopeless speller, terrible with grammar and awful at punctuation.

I have dyslexia, words and myself have an uncomfortable relationship, we just do not get along.

Does make me chuckle as if it is a badge if intelligence when someone continues to correct me lol

It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Unless it's to the point where I cannot understand what they are saying then it is a bit of a non-issue.

Not everyone excels at typing/writing what they are trying to say and as long as I understand what they meant or know what they meant I don't get the problem.

They may be dyslexic or foreign or just not very good at typing/writing or English.

This a swinging site not a site for authors to judge each other's writing nor is it a place for college professors to grade your writing.

A lot of people will use shortened versions of words or may rush what they are typing as a lot of folk don't really take spelling/grammar seriously on the internet as it's not really that important.

If you are annoyed by bad spelling then just move on, it's not really affecting your life if you ignore it and you don't know their reasons for it so try to be a bit more sympathetic. And also try fixing your own spelling before mocking others.

Just my advice.

I guess there are many people who are too quick to press 'send' , BEFORE checking what they have typed ? sometimes confused the hell out of me .

It is not a case of ' not knowing ' as people make out . More of a case of ' can not be bothered' I fear ! Some people unfortunately are not ' literate' enough to express themselves in a proper way . I am not talking ' A grade ' writing just basic communication skills .

Confusion then happens between people who have somehow not understood something .

We even have built in software 'add ons ' now such as 'Grammarly' that 'monitor ' how you type AND even correct it too !

I feel maybe some people should spend a bit of their free time educating themselves to a basic standard of writing .

We have great a free education system for the people who need it .

So, I suggest people might want to try that ? rather than continually keep defending their right to 'write wot I like' . It may be your 'right' but it can be bloody irritating frankly We have moved on from the days of ' doffing a cap' and scratching an 'x' I think .

In this day and age no excuse really not being able to express yourself !

Of course , there are always those people who have dyslexia etc in which case that is different .

I have better things to worry about than spelling to be honest.

Grammar and punctuation is more important as I cant make out a sentence or how its meant to be read without this. In a workplace/office I understand ..but on fab I really couldnt care less.. as long as I can understand what they are saying.

I was never particularly good at spelling when I was at school. However I've always been big on good presentation, attention to detail, and generally taking a bit of pride. I take that value into all aspects of my life. Very thankful to modern technology and things like spell checks, which make life a hell of a lot easier for me. Still means I need to check over what I write, but if I'm trying to make a good impression why wouldn't I do that? I like people who share my values. A 'can't be arsed attitude' is a bit of a turn off. On the other hand people who can't be arsed would find me a bit anally retentive.

If you're a nerd, you'll know only one question mark is needed. You cannot make it more of a question by putting more.

The point is that often you cannot/can't/can not make sufficient sense of that which is written (or typed) to the point that the message becomes garbled.

that's just it though, i can read that last line. phonetically it's fine and i can translate it.

Try this:

Were were they were, were not were there.

(We're where they were, we're not where they're(they are)) "

You cannot contract the last two words.

'Twas more an indication of the spoken word transcribed badly to paper than an intentional true contraction in the grammatical sense.

"I was never particularly good at spelling when I was at school. However I've always been big on good presentation, attention to detail, and generally taking a bit of pride. I take that value into all aspects of my life. Very thankful to modern technology and things like spell checks, which make life a hell of a lot easier for me. Still means I need to check over what I write, but if I'm trying to make a good impression why wouldn't I do that? I like people who share my values. A 'can't be arsed attitude' is a bit of a turn off. On the other hand people who can't be arsed would find me a bit anally retentive.

I didn't realise you needed a diploma in spelling to use this site.As someone who got bullied for my dislexia when I was younger I find it very imature for so called adults to be judging other people on there spelling on a sex/Swingers site.Are you that bitter that you look for every imperfectiun in other people to fill your petty viod.If you can understand what there saying then what's the problem? Get a grip or get laid don't get petty as its not a attractive traite x

Dyslexia causes you to mix letters and read slower. It doesn't cause someone to spell a 'swinging meet' as a 'swinging meat' (for example). That's just bad spelling and nothing to do with dyslexia.

I guess some of us just prefer those who can spell. Its not a big thing to ask .. its a preference. We all have preferences, age, shape, height.. and spelling is just one other.
