Bloody insect bite!

I got bitten by something last week on the back of my right knee. It came up in a big itchy lump and a small reaction round it for a couple of days and then had all but disappeared until yesterday. It has now come out as a large red itchy reaction that is spreading. Doctor says this is something that is happening to people a lot at the moment and told me to take double dose of once a day antihistamine plus I have some antihistamine cream yet I'm getting no relief and it's driving me bonkers. I'm sure there is an insect out there somewhere giggling at me *haha she thought it was all gone then boom!....*. Anyway I now also appear to have narcolepsy from all the antihistamine too, really quite amusing until you are trying to eat your tea and you get a fork in the face while looking like a nodding dog. I have probably agreed to all sorts today and not realised it lol. Joking aside though I really do feel awful and haven't managed to get on here properly today

I'd get yourself to the doctors. My son got bitten last summer, I'd never seen anything like that! It was awful...

Horrible! You could try a paste of bicarb or dab with vinegar. Are you getting any other allergic reactions, swelling in your face or anything?

I was bitten on my knee last year, it pitched like blazes then went down but ever since it's come up every few weeks all itchy and raised like it was originally. I thought all this would be stopped after the referendum

Brighton - even Hove!

If it hurts try a topical cream with benzocaine in it. It will numb the skin.

You're not alone in getting reactions to insect bites. Have reacted to a bite which became a red sore spot for a few days before drying up. Had some bite & sting ointment in the cupboard which I think helped. Don't usually react to insect bites though.

Check this:

If it looks anything like this, get yourself to the doctors ASAP.

At this time of year these kind of bites become more frequent - and can be deadly.
