Petticoats does anyone still wear the said beautiful item ? There is something special about seeing a beautiful lady in silky petticoat , just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or is it one of those items redundant to the past .

You can get knickers with inserts too like booster bras but for bums.

They're very hard to get hold of now, especially more traditional styles but they do make skirts and dresses sit better. I'm also very into Victorian and 70's style clothes which work better with petticoats.

It's why I wear them. Every woman is presented with one on her 60th birthday. They come complete with straps that slip down your arm and a hem that is guaranteed to hang below any dress or skirt you wear.

Yep...they don't slip down

But they don't give the smooth outline a petticoat gives. It's an foundation garmet conundrum to be sure.

I love fifties style so love going out in either fluffy petticoats or a wiggle dress with a half slip. And stockings of course. It's not old fashioned it's stylish and feminine. And better a petticoat than a badly clung to body dress that looks like a sack.

Rockabilly, indeed it just soooo happens the girls look stunning. Series one of 'The Man in the High Castle' Julianna wearing full skirts or capri pants shorts socks, flat shoes & a suede jacket with blouse, mmmmmm.

I occasionally wear half slips (pretty coats from the waist down), depending upon what m wearing. Usually, if the dress is a bit too see through for my liking.

I remember once when I was 19 in the late 80s when I was at my first job, one of these half slips fell down when I got to the car (the elastic must had gone) and after I got into my car, a colleague came up to me and asked for a date!

Gone are the days when pretty colourful slips with lacy hemlines were easily available. I used to wear my sister's when I was a teenager. Nowadays nearly all slip are black or white. Sulis silk has a great range of lingerie

It does seem that way.

There is something essentially feminine about a petticoat I think. More so than the more overt lingerie they sort of sum up female dressing...well for me anyway.

i struggle to wear clothes at all never mind adding another layer into the mix 0 i guess the slip dresses i wear to clubs are a little like them but then that is all i wear and then not for long

I absolutely adore a beautiful petticoat. Sadly very few ladies where them these days, but it's so lovely seeing a lady who enjoys wearing them. I love the swish and shape they create. Massive fan of those beautiful 50s vintage skirts and dresses. So feminine and so elegant.
