A lady on here was telling me that in the first 20 minutes of her new profile going up she had, wait for it. 150 emails 500 profile views and 10 friends requests.

This makes me feel lucky that I ever get a reply off you ladies let alone any meets.

So guys when you don't get a reply straight away just think how many other emails they probably have to wade though before they get to yours.

Those first days are hard. We have a female friend who was on the brink of quitting fab because of that. Early on people don't know about filters and how to handle the inrush of spam.

We think new profiles should be 'off limits' for a week from unsolicited messages so newbies can get a feel for the site.

This.

It does mention filters but by the time you've written some text and filled info in there's usually a ton of messages already waiting. I had about 20 mails after 3 minutes on the site, with no profile text or pics.

Same when I signed up, a bunch of messages before I had even written a word. Proof that some men will hit on anything.

its always the same when females first join, as no one tells you about filters and age ranges and how to block single men etc

they soon get the hang of it though and a quick bulk delete sorts out the excess amount of emails

Filters are there to be used. I don't get many messages, the ones I usually get are from people on my friends list. I get the occasional unsolicited message but it's not bad, in fact my mailbox is empty!

I'm not sure why lots of mail would make any one leave. Just delete, ignore or use the filters.

But most of all just because a message is there you don't have to read it or respond.

Just do the searching and send your own messages.

same here, it makes me laugh when I see posts of people saying they get far too many messages off men but when you tell them they can use the filters or even block men,they wouldn't dream of it

the alternative is to disable men from messaging. Make it so they can only reply or send a message to members who have winked at them.

That way, no more messages from men you don't like. Browsing profiles and winking has to be more fun than receiving endless unwanted messages. Yes it means ladies would be technically making the first move and risking the mans rejection and I know how unthinkable that is for most ladies but come on, it's 2017, stop whining the wrong guys approach you and take control by choosing who you will concider.

On that basis, I wouldn't presume a wink meant sex. I would see it as the first step in the selection process.

Upon joining I had 638 messages in the first day.

It's not a complaint but impossible to sort through those
