Silhouettes

O.K,we've recently had a thread on pic's,strangely,the O.P had was a silhouette as were several of the posters.

We were wondering how many people contact silhouettes and do they contact each other or do they themselves prefer to contact people with pic's?

As for us,we would never contact anyone without pic's,it'd be like a blind date.

However we know people must do,so why do some people contact others without any idea what they look like?

How does it work?

Maybe not all people are as open to the lifestyle being made public & prefer their identity to remain that way unless they get chatting to someone & then show them a pic. I dont personally know why so many people bang on about it just cos they dont give a shit who knows, doesnt mean everyone else should be like that

their profile would have to really grab my eye verbally for us to contact someone without a pic on show. no pic doesn't necessarily mean they don't have any though does it?

For us Silhouettes and other jokey style profile pics imply a lack of seriousness hence we simply pass them by.

If you don't have the gumption to put up a sensible profile then how can you ever be expected to be taken seriously in this way of life.

Not sure if these stats say anything but here goes anyway.

Since turning on the computer this morning we have had 48 different visits to our profile (some people keep coming back for some reason )

of those 23 were silhouettes and 25 photo's but if you break it down further of the 23 silhouettes 19 were single men and 4 were couples of the 25 photo's 12 were single men, 11 couples and 2 TV/TS's

any conclusions?

Yes, you've spent too long counting up who's looked at me!

Guess it suggests that, as we all knew, there are alot of single guys.... and maybe couples are more likely to realise the benefit of having a photo. Would be interested to see the same stats for women and how many have silhouettes.

I have messaged the odd silhouette, think as someone mentioned you can tell a bit from the writing if they might be real. That said have only met one of them and she did put picks up before i met her so not sure if that counts?

I'm a sillhouette! or was ... till I showed my socks.

I have very many contacts. The ones I like I contact back. We msn- my pic is there. We phone - better than typing. We FACE cam. If we want to we meet.

Got to say that some photo's put me off and no matter how hot someone 'looks' it's never the deciding factor for me to meet. So I guess I just don't set too much store by a pic. It's been said recently on other threads about meeting people who look nothing like their pics.

I'll check a silhouette profile, as sometimes they have photo's on their profile, but not set as an avatar. Personally I want to see something before I contact them, it doesn't have to be face or even full body, just something to say they are genuine.

It's a free country and people can take whatever attitude they want, so hopefully my opinion here will be accepted as just that, my opinion in a free country!!!

I have to say that I now find myself laughing a lot as I browse this site, the forums and the profiles. As I've said, people are free to have their own opinions, but what a crazy thing to get so hung up on! And if your going to completely ignore someone simply because they don't have a pic on their public profile, well more fool you and it's your loss!

Of course I wouldn't meet someone without first seeing a pic, just as I wouldn't expect someone to meet me without having seen my pic, but the reasons folk are putting up for ignoring people is getting really hilarious!!

I could tell you about a lady with no pic, but I'm too much of a gentleman and she's too much of a lady for me to do that, but suffice to say that while some people are coming up with a myriad of reasons and excuses why they won't meet or communicate in any way, there are others quietly going about meeting and having great fun, which strangely enough is what this site is supposed to be all about!!

Well you have to grasp that most of the people giving the 'myriad of reasons' are mostly the women and the couples who get 100's of messages a day. If you got this many would you not start by clearing out all the ones that you can't even see?

You say you wouldn't meet without first seeing a pic, well this may seem obvious but the ones with silhouettes may not be prepared to show a pic therefore it takes extra time bothering to find out if they will or won't and many people don't have lots of time to spend on here.

Think what I am trying to say is they aren't 'excuses' as such, just how people go about finding what they want. You say its their loss for not bothering, they might tell you it's the silhouette persons loss for not putting a pic up...

..and likewise just my opinion as yours was.

For us there really is no rocket science in this as it's simply a matter of common sense, if you are serious about meeting folk you will approach your profile with the utmost degree of care.

We also doubt it's a coincidence that the Browse button at the top of the screen features a button to allow a search to only show profiles with pictures.

The site owners have obviously realised that there will be lots and lots of wannabees who will join the site to talk the talk but never actually walk the walk hence have included this particular time waste avoidance filter.

No one is hung up on this subject at all, however the question was asked and the general thrust so far is that folk who use silhouettes or "Jokely" pics are normally avoided.

BIG clue there folks

i agree, i get enough messages with pics , i can never be assed to start mailing back asking to see face pics to then get told all the reasons they dont have one

I have no shortage of fun and I know there are many reasons why people don't put pics up,But I like to see something to show some sort of effort or inginuity

I certainly don't think its my loss if I pass those people by as I would'nt assume its their loss if they did'nt want to contact me

Each to their own as always I also know that many without pics on here are very successful with meeting so for some people it makes no difference at all but to me it does and we're all entitled to play and choose who we play with how we want

That is what we were asking P.D,how does it work?

Do you contact people with pic's or without?

Do you get negativity from contacts with pic's?

Do you send pic's via e.mail/msn or meet blind?

If you meet blind,have you ever turned down a meet because there was no attraction when you met or vice versa?

These were the kind of questions we were hoping would be answered,not just descend into another "pic or no pic" debate.

There are getting enough "Ground Hog Day" threads on the forums already!

I can't speak for all the silhouettes but I and those I've chatted to and met wouldn't dream of meeting without exchanging pics. Personally, initially I sent to their e-mail address but I now have one in my private gallery so I can attach it to FS mail.

However, people are making a big mistake and being very unkind in the suggestions being made that people who don't publish a pic are in some way less serious etc etc, How that co-relation works I haven't a clue!! And to further suggest that all the timewasters and general plonkers are amongst the silhouettes is also totally false, there are plenty of folk with pics who are just a waste of space!!!

Again I reiterate there is no rocket science being applied here, it's nothing more than using ones common sense and stating the bleedin obvious.

I would suggest the for most couples and single women on this site, and I emphasise MOST, there HAS to be some sort of attraction before any sort of contact or reply is even considered.

I deliberately leave guys out of the above as experience in here and at the many clubs we have visited suggest that a much much larger proportion of guys will fuck anything with a pulse hence attraction is not a major consideration.

For Mrs Two2 she has to have a pretty good idea about who she is potentially going to meet before she will she will even consider contacting or replying to a profile.

As I am the one who "organises" this side of our lives this means for me it's a real no brainer. I have just used the Browse function and searched the Southwest for couples with pics aged between 35 and 55 and there are 600 profiles being shown. On page 1 there are 30 profiles of which 2 are silhouettes, if you factor that through that means that there will be roughly 40 silhouettes and 560 pictures to choose from, as I said no brainer.

You could not wish to meet a more security conscious or discrete couple than ourselves but in the 8 years or so that we have been playing we have always always always had representative pictures on our profile as we fully understand the importance of doing so.

With the above statement in mind for us, or should I say for me those folk who choose to use a silhouette potentially, and i again I stress potentially, fall into the category of uncertain/time waster/fake etc etc and as, using my rather unscientific measurement, they make up roughly 7% of this site why on earth would we even bother looking at them?

This is not a judgemental position it's simply a position of practicality which is what the OP's question was all about and, although I am fully expecting it I would be surprised if anyone can find fault with my thought process on this one.

well put Mr Two2 I for one agree with you etirely we will not entertain meeting anyone single or couple without seeing a face pic first. We understand, particularly as this is a free site (paying does sift a lot of pic collectors/timewasters in our experience) why many don't have a face pic on their public profile, we dont.

We play this two ways, if we approach another couple we always attach a face pic and if we are contacted (by mail not a wink or unsolicited friends request) we will give a stock reply asking for a face pic, we really aren't interested in the cock shots, we learnt camera angles can make such a diffeence lol, if we get one without question we will continue a dialog to see if there is any connection.

Can't think of a single situation where we have contacted a silohuette though.

Some people can’t put a public pic for work, family and friends reasons.

We have all read the newspapers where you see something like

Headline “Swinging Miss Brown”

School teacher Miss Brown from Sheffield is a swinger. How dare she. She teaches kids. She is depraved etc etc

There are lots of professions where it would be dangerous to have a public pic up.

Just tell any couples or people without pics you understand why they may not have a public pic but you won’t meet before seeing a pic of them. Get them to send one via e-mail.

Valid point if your working i guess but the lack of picture does make people suspicious at times. I have rarely had people say hello from non web based areas though in 12 years on line though.

We have met with some people with no pictures at all on there profile but only in a group like a party for instance when some people in the group have already met them, not before, im scared see lol ( oh and slightly d*unk right now as if you couldnt tell lol). xx
