Canal boat share

We are interested in sharing the purchase and maintenance costs of a narrow boat with other members.

Anyone interested ?

This is not an invite to purchase and play together rather a wish for a jointly owned canal boat to be shared with others who have similar recreational interests, just like a time share apartment. Association rules to be thrashed out between all interested parties plus mooring site.

Leeds -Liverpool canal would be ideal for us but we are open to all suggested alternates.

Are we talking new build or used?

Either new or used for us.

Number of people involved, length of boat and their available funds would be the variables that would dictate age and specifications of the narrow boat.

Sounds like a good idea to us. How many would be sharing.

Boatshares occasionally come up on eBay.

Number of shares in narrow boat.....

Open minded on this one. There are two options as I see it

A) Capped number of "shares" ...say 12 for example...but each owner has the option of buying as many shares as they want or can afford. This could in theory result in one person/couple owning say 50% of the shares in the boat.

B) A set number of, say, 12 shares but ownership restricted to a single share per person/couple.

Management would be far easier with fewer co-owners but then are there 3 or four interested parties here on Fab with maybe between £5 to £15k available.
