Why do people need to post status updates that are plain nasty and derogative? I wont mention people who make them or the things they say but any of us can scan the updates and find them. I personally haven't had any directed towards me and most dont name specific individuals but im sure people will know if they are refering to them and it cant be nice.

Im not saying we should do this or that to deal with it but i would like to think that we are an inclusive community and we dont need this kind of behaviour/attitude

My local status updates are horrific at times! Half my block list has come of them alone.

You'd think people would just have a little class about them. Half the time it's comparable to FaceBook

I've not seen any that are particularly nasty but seen plenty that are pure cringe!

There's a couple in my area that are constantly updating their status but talking to each other. The male will post something to the female then a couple of hours later the female will update with a reply! As has been said before, this isn't Facebook! I'm actually embarrassed for them

OP, this site is moderated by volunteers who, presumably, do this in their spare time

It is also up to the members to report inappropriate status, posts, messages, photographs

I do that bearing in mind that we received a timeout for a forum post and also for a message. We don't take it to heart and will still continue to support the guys and gals here to keep this site fun

Yeah fb is exactly how id describe the updates to a new user. Very true though some people just have no class. Its just disappointing that a place that should be so relaxed and tolerant at times isnt how do people become moderators does anyone know? I think more people would do it because of things like this

You become a moderator by being here at least 18 months, don't get banned, be a site supporter and apply.

I've seen them advertise for pic moderators loads of times.

This site is far better a place to be than facebook. facebook has positives, but the negatives out weight.

I deleted my account, people waste so much time on fb.

This site is more honest and has less bs. Albeit not quite the same

I use statuses as another filter, some of the things that come up are really off putting. If you see anything that breaks site rules report it.

Agree, i have reported those offering money to ladies for sexual favours and those who name and shame.

Recently i did put up a status but it wasnt aimed at an individual.. just married men who message me when on my profile which clearly states single guys only. Pure frustration.

its nice to have that option to put up a status as its a way to break the ice with some people. I hope it continues.

This thread's prompted me to look at my local updates (I usually don't bother). There are two 'name and shame' statuses in there and a couple more very derogatory ones from disgruntled users. Every time I look it feels like I'm living in the middle of Royston Vasey ...

Ive seen them to and i just think "what you say about others, says more about you, then it does about them" and none of it is good

And who cares what some, no doubt spitful and or butt hurt keyboard warrior has to say about anyone or anything?

They do it for attention or to make themsevles feel better or to try and hurt someone, i mean how pathetic can you get?

I belive if you have something to say to someone do it privetly or say it in person...if your brave enough, which most of these people arnt!

local updates here is bad just now, so many dramas being played out with the girls and the guys jumping in on the side of whoever they hope to fuck. Guys moaning about no meets. People slagging off others pics. It's awful. What I never understand is do these people not realise their status updates put decent folk right off them??

Not only do they use status updates... they are all over the forums. Best thing to do is ignore them. Don't let them get to you and spoil the fun.

If you come across the extreme cases who are persistent and repeat offenders... they feel the need to pursue and stalk... they simply can't let it go... block them.

That should end all forms of communication.

However...

Some of the more disgruntled users are advanced enough to get around the mods so figure out ways to continue trying to communicate with you even when you have blocked them.

Lucky for us Fab is evolving all the time and I am sure new and improved systems will be introduced to make the site even more user friendly then it is

There will always be those who are important to us and those with whom we will never connect for whatever reason.

Perhaps the secret is not to rush to anger but merely skip past those comments or people we will never be in tune with and simply let that discontent wash away rather than having it cause us paid or anger or rage.

And if they are merely pixels on a page...why would we ever let them ruin our own peace of mind

Exactly and I vent most days to be honest. Doesn't stop me meeting the ones I want and if people are offended, I'd suggest they block me so I don't appear in the newsfeed. I like words and profanities, to the point I do post several times a day.
