I can only give thoughts rather than ideas and suggestions (sorry!).

I know it's a common thing in the scene and loads of people are in to this.

For me, I value my orgasms WAY too much than to be denied one for any length of time so, personally, I wouldn't get the thrill or buzz from orgasm denial.

I can only guess that first orgasm after being 'allowed' to have one after a period of abstinence is explosive! I'm guessing that's part of the "pay-off" from this as well as the submissive thing.
