Studland Visit

Winchester

We're hoping to visit Studland next week for the first time in about 14 years (!).

It will be mid week and during school holidays. Are there likely to be any couples that we could get to know, or is it still overrun with single guys?

Can you still park along the road and walk down the long path to the beach?

Any tips on where to sit and where not to sit?

cheers!

You can still park on ferry road, it was quiet this afternoon, mostly single guys, us and another couple all spaced apart...we don't go there to meet other couples, just to lie in the sun nekkid

We're planning going Saturday afternoon if the weather plays ball. Glad to hear that you can still park on the road. Fingers crossed for a naked afternoon in the sun!

bmth /poole sometimes blandford

if its nice weather i would avoid the ferry like the plague .. unless u want to spend hours sat in your car.last time we had a hot weekend it was total gridlock . either go early..

park elsewhere and get a bus 150 from bmth or 151 from poole or drive round the Wareham way ..

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Yellow lines? Must have been put there in the last week or so then! Ferry Road is actually private along by the entrance to the path. But yes, pull off the road as far as you can! I turn around so I`m facing back towards Corfe Castle if it isn`t too far a walk, then I don`t get caught in the traffic waiting for the ferry!

I always got the impression that it was mainly, but not exclusively, gays to the left and hetro to the right in the dunes either side of the path. If you haven`t been for several years you will find the naturist area cut down quite considerably. You used to be able to go up to the lake inland but that is now fenced off as a wildlife area.

We are going next month, love it there. Never any meerkats on the beach only in the dunes.

If you have any meerkats lurking, just get out a camera and point it at them. They soon disappear. If that doesn't work and they are being a real pain then tell them in no uncertain terms to go forth and multiply. A lot of them are there when their other half doesn't know so they don't want any bother.

Usually though we've been there and enjoyed the sun and not been too pestered by them. It's a lovely place and the naturist area has actually been increased over recent years. Enjoy!

".............. the naturist area has actually been increased over recent years......"

The winter storms of 2014 took some of the dunes away to give more beach area but the traditional naturist area from the days when it was the Bankes Estate has been drastically reduced by the NT!Bearing in mind the NT actually wanted to close the beach to naturists, I would seriously doubt if they`ve actually increased the amount of area available to naturists!

It's miles from Swanage - same county mind you! It's across the water from Sanbanks (which is Poole), you get the Sandbanks Ferry. One side of the water is Sandbanks and the other side is Shell Bay. Google it, Mr Google knows everything!
