Why do people do this? Surely when they meet its clear that the real person doesn't look exactly like their pic on here? (Mine aren't by the way! Only cropped for fab uploads)

They don't feel they look good enough. I don't even use filters.

It's pretty low to false advertise and it leaves everyone disappointed.

We have photoshop which have used in the past when we have photographed weddings, or studio photos. We don't use it for the photos of us which we put on here.

What you see is what you get with us.

Never photoshopped or used a filter. If I'm meeting someone I like them to know exactly what they're getting so there's no unexpected disappointments.

Mine rely on flattering angles

I do have a "squishy" disclaimer on my profile, so nobody should be expecting a honed gym bunny if we decide to meet.

I'll use good angles and sometimes a filter but when it comes to face pics I always send the one I consider to be my worst on here. I don't know why, maybe so there's no disappointment when we meet in person

How does one use these tools to make oneself appear more attractive?

Because it's not uncommon for people to be familiar with this knowledge? I don't know how to do it. And my pics have always had blemishes and flaws; I get spots pretty bad. There are other ways of telling like straight lines being warped and distorted.

I'll take it as a compliment that you think my pics are shopped though

I only use Photoshop on images to deal with skin blemishes etc - never use any of the tools to warp, enhance, reduce any part of the images.

Use Lightroom to change the tone of the image - but again never to wrap/enhance anything.
