Radio documentary - interview?

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well.

I am currently making a radio documentary about the scene and I'm looking to talk to people about their experiences. Would any of you be willing to meet me and talk? Couples, singles... Even if not on the recorder it'd be good to hear more about you.

Please let me know your thoughts. I do understand the importance of discretion - I'm not looking to out anyone who doesn't want to be named. As it is audio only you could easily be disguised.

Haha I assure you that I am genuinely only looking for contributors for my documentary. I'm happy to conduct the interviews via telephone and record that way if it's easier for people.

I'm completing my Masters in Broadcast Journalism and this is my final project. I've already interviewed the owner of a new swingers club. I would like to talk to more people in the scene. Especially couples really.

Think you may struggle to find someone to be honest. Privacy is paramount on here as a lot of us have lives outside of fab. As for creating a profile just to interview people... Seems a little creepy.

I spoke to a journalist about 12 years ago about my experiences including my first MFM with two guys I met at a hotel.

She wrote it as me being very naive and putting myself in a stupidly unsafe situation.

The reality was, I made an informed decision to meet two perfectly nice gentlemen after some time chatting and we had amazing sex including my first DP and DV

Yeah, just a little.

There have been a number of 'items' on swinging in the media that seem to have been presented with a very bias viewpoint and so you may find many will be reluctant to help

Sounds facinating you might want to check the newspaper archives at the BL as the Mirror did a double page spread on Rios about 18 years ago. Its how I first found out about the club.

have you asked anywhere else e.g. in printed media, other social media etc? The problem with this type of thing is that contributors have no input to the editing and almost inevitably it ends up with clips of interviews edited to support the documentary makers view of the subject. You say you're not a swinger and don't give any clue as to your opinions on the subject, most of us know from experience that they're likely to be misinformed. You're asking people to share while giving nothing away yourself, of course thats the nature of journalism but privacy and discretion are in the nature of swinging

Good luck with your endeavours but the animal masked contributors to a documetary about dogging are very fresh in people's minds.

I have already interviewed a club owner. This site is a different angle for the doc.

I assure you all that I have a completely neutral viewpoint on the scene. In many ways I'm looking to show how positive it can be. Meeting people, making lifelong friends, building confidence etc.

The dogging doc you are referring to is exactly why I'm making my documentary. Because it portrayed that scene in a very seedy way. I am hoping to find people who are proud of who they are. Obviously most people prefer their privacy, but surely someone is happy to talk?

As I said I've already interviewed a male. He is a club owner and very proud of who he is and the scene in general. I want to continue with that for the documentary, but obviously need more contributors. Different voices: men, women, couples, trans.

If anyone is interested, please DM me. Much easier to find contributors on here than on social media, surely.

What you've just said there would be perfect for my documentary. You're an adult and made an adult decision, and had a great time. That's fascinating. I'm no journalist. But my curiosity about life has often put me in journalistic scenarios, talking to members of a cult, gun runners, white supremacists, gang members, etc. These were all people who, to put it mildly, had very different views from me. But the only way I even got to talk to them and hear their story was to find some common ground, become a "friend", and win their trust. As such, I'd suggest you're going about this wrong.

What are your views on swinging? What are your opinions on monogamy? Do you have a healthy view of sex or do you feel the body is sin? If your answers to all these questions are likely to be at odds with ours we have no common ground. You need to find that common ground, ignite friendly discussions with swingers around that common ground. And when you find someone who seems to like you, pm them and ask if you can interview them. Far be it for me to tell a journalist how to do their job but lol that's how you do your job

Yes I guess he's a better human for it. But if his approach causes everyone to close the door on him he may not be much of a journalist. As you can see, not much love for journalists here either

I like to be given the choice about whether I contribute to a journalist's research. I don't care what profession anyone I meet follows but I don't expect them to practice it on me without my knowledge and under the guise of friendship. It would make me very wary of meeting a brain surgeon

Fascinating thread. Would love a link to the doc. How did you square the ethics of this project OP? I'm not being sarcastic but genuinely wonder if your uni require you to do ethical approval for projects or if you had to write up about ethics as part of the submission.
