"Is this a serious thread?! " Yes. I'm completing a Masters in Broadcast Journalism and I'm making a radio documentary about the scene. I am not a swinger myself.

"Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well. I am currently making a radio documentary about the scene and I'm looking to talk to people about their experiences. Would any of you be willing to meet me and talk? Couples, singles... Even if not on the recorder it'd be good to hear more about you. Please let me know your thoughts. I do understand the importance of discretion - I'm not looking to out anyone who doesn't want to be named. As it is audio only you could easily be disguised. I am Preston based. All the best, Martin" Anyone at all willing to help me out?

"Haha I assure you that I am genuinely only looking for contributors for my documentary. I'm happy to conduct the interviews via telephone and record that way if it's easier for people. I'm completing my Masters in Broadcast Journalism and this is my final project. I've already interviewed the owner of a new swingers club. I would like to talk to more people in the scene. Especially couples really." Which new swingers club? Entice?

" I've already interviewed the owner of a new swingers club. " Wouldn't there be more research material in interviewing the owner of a swinging club that has been running successfully for years? Sally

"Think you may struggle to find someone to be honest. Privacy is paramount on here as a lot of us have lives outside of fab. As for creating a profile just to interview people... Seems a little creepy. " Yeah, just a little. There have been a number of 'items' on swinging in the media that seem to have been presented with a very bias viewpoint and so you may find many will be reluctant to help

All the best, Martin Anyone at all willing to help me out?" have you asked anywhere else e.g. in printed media, other social media etc? The problem with this type of thing is that contributors have no input to the editing and almost inevitably it ends up with clips of interviews edited to support the documentary makers view of the subject. You say you're not a swinger and don't give any clue as to your opinions on the subject, most of us know from experience that they're likely to be misinformed. You're asking people to share while giving nothing away yourself, of course thats the nature of journalism but privacy and discretion are in the nature of swinging Good luck with your endeavours but the animal masked contributors to a documetary about dogging are very fresh in people's minds.

"So why don't you want single guys views as part of your research? " Because I've already interview one. Plus it's not particularly very interesting - much more interesting when couples or single women are involved because the public will naturally assume that these sites (and clubs) are filled with men.

Here is a taster of the documentary I have started: https://soundcloud.com/martinlawaudio/play-swingers-documentary-teaser I have already interviewed a club owner. This site is a different angle for the doc. I assure you all that I have a completely neutral viewpoint on the scene. In many ways I'm looking to show how positive it can be. Meeting people, making lifelong friends, building confidence etc. The dogging doc you are referring to is exactly why I'm making my documentary. Because it portrayed that scene in a very seedy way. I am hoping to find people who are proud of who they are. Obviously most people prefer their privacy, but surely someone is happy to talk? As I said I've already interviewed a male. He is a club owner and very proud of who he is and the scene in general. I want to continue with that for the documentary, but obviously need more contributors. Different voices: men, women, couples, trans. If anyone is interested, please DM me. Much easier to find contributors on here than on social media, surely. Thank you.

"I spoke to a journalist about 12 years ago about my experiences including my first MFM with two guys I met at a hotel. She wrote it as me being very naive and putting myself in a stupidly unsafe situation. The reality was, I made an informed decision to meet two perfectly nice gentlemen after some time chatting and we had amazing sex including my first DP and DV " What you've just said there would be perfect for my documentary. You're an adult and made an adult decision, and had a great time. That's fascinating. But because it's a radio documentary I just need people to say that kind of stuff into a recorder. I'm happy to keep people anonymous. Would you be up for it? If so, DM me please.

Haha - yeah the manspread around here is so wide, I am surprised women even get a seat.

But if his approach causes everyone to close the door on him he may not be much of a journalist. As you can see, not much love for journalists here either

"I wouldn't be happy if someone befriended me then revealed they were a journalist. " How do you know you haven't met journalists already? Swingers come from all walks of life. A good journalist never reveals their source. I've spoken to writers in the past with no problems, and worked on a large expose in a national paper on a completely different subject, all anonymously.

" I don't. I'm not naive enough to think that journalists wouldn't read the forum for instance. However I still wouldn't be happy to discover someone had befriended me under false presences.

"I like to be given the choice about whether I contribute to a journalist's research. I don't care what profession anyone I meet follows but I don't expect them to practice it on me without my knowledge and under the guise of friendship. It would make me very wary of meeting a brain surgeon " I think it's wrong when journalists aren't honest. That's not who I want to be at all, hence why I'm open about why I'm on the site and why I have created this forum. I'm glad that some of you appreciate my honesty. And if any of you are willing to help me out please do message me. Already had one message so keep them coming!

And no you can't quote me on that.
