I think woman get so many messages it kind of gets hard seeing everyone for who they are. Does that make sense?

I suspect, though I may be generalising too much, that they probably aren't that respectful to their mothers themselves.

A lot of this behaviour is learnt from the male father figures in their lives. If they're no great shakes, then the child (and later adult) does not have much chance.
