Recently saw someone I'd seen in chams, they pretended not to know me, saw someone in chams I knew from outside, also ignored me, why is this?

Why would you talk to someone you had seen in a club outside it...

It's called being discreet

You must NEVER approach a fellow swinger in public and 'talk about it'.

A friendly hello though isnt too suspect

Are you really having to ask why they ignored you

It's frustrating the lack of discretion on the scene lately.

I can understand why, but surely a discrete nod or smile would be ok?

A couple I've met on Fab twice have seen me twice in local supermarkets He wanted to come over and say hello but she was paranoid about embarrassing me

I hadn't spotted them otherwise I'd happily said hello

It's not like you're going to start talking about swinging just a hello and how are you etc.

If I saw them with others though I would stay clear

Wherever the party is @

Just say hi and done..as the above post mentioned. Not like you're gonna start going into details about the club you saw them in

because they don't want any kind of crossover from this lifestyle into their other one...surely that can't be so hard to understand? were they with other friends? family? their kids?

This is a real problem in the fetish scene local to me at the moment. A lot of accidental 'outings' happening, mainly due to a lot of the younger folk in the scene having no idea what discretion is.

Some people just dont want their private lives mixing with their normal.

for some its having a secret life away from their families that add to the thrill of living this lifestyle. also OP you dont know if they were out with friends/ family who dont know what they enjoy

dont stress or worry about it, just smile and feel honoured you got to share something with them most will never know

This a problem, to them it's all about bragging rights.

We always nod and say hello in passing but thats it.

We are happy to chat a little but leave it them to start a conversation if they feel that they want to.

Dont think a passing acknowledgement is being indescrete just polite.

We have seen a few people from club around and about , but we keep it private . If we were some where quite and bumped into them chatting , if circumstances were right we might even chat , swinging , non swinging if horny would invite for fun somewhere

Common sense. Some people are open about it, some keep it quiet. Let's not forget that people have lost jobs due to this life style and it can effect families.

We had this discussion at a party the other night, we came the conclusion that you'd simply smile, nod your head and keep walking.

There is nothing wrong with saying hello and even stopping to talk with us if we are on our own. If we are in company a polite hello is fine too but don't expect to stop for a chat as we prefer to be discrete.

It is simply good manners we would say hello to anyone who knew us but if we were in company we would not expect anyone even friends to expect us to engage in a conversation.

This is what some people don't get. It's not like this for everybody, but for us swinging is 'our dirty little secret' it's part of the fun.

It does seem to be the younger people. Maybe it's growing up with social media, putting your whole lives online and not thinking about the consequences.

If we're with vanilla friends and we see someone from a club then we'll give a sign of recognition (a nod or a wink) but we'll keep moving. If we're alone then we'll stop and chat. It just avoids the 'so how do you know each other?' chat afterwards.
