I had a message recently from a man bemoaning the fact that women do not meet men of his ethnicity.

This is not, and I reapeat NOT about the message itself, only about the propensity of "Preference" on this site.

But the message got me thinking. First of all, I wouldn't meet anyone who moans so much. About anything.

Secondly, about the fact of preference.

I, myself, am an extra large woman. No point belaboring that fact. I'm not huge, but I certainly fall shy of the "average" category.

When posts or messages come up saying a man only meets women who are not carrying extra pounds, I get in a tiff but let's face it: they are probably shallow men who will never meet anyone they have a connection with that doesn't start with outward looks. I get over it.

Is this a judgement on my part? Probably, but then, so is theirs.

They are probably not men I could have a decent laugh with anyway?

I had a chat with a customer at work over dating older/younger people, and he was insistent that he'd NEVER date an older woman. For a moment, I was taken aback.....we'd been having a laugh for years as he came in to the shop. WHY not???? Then it occurred to me....preferences.

SO. I have my preferences too. While not set in stone, I find dark haired men infinitely more attractive than blonds.

And more to the point, my ex was of an ethnicity that I would never ever date again. YES---I know not all from his area of the world are the same! but no----won't go there!

I know this has been done more times than can be counted, but hey---my preference today is for a thread on preferences.

My preference, tall ginger guys, not ripped but well built and no big beer bellies, pale skin (slight vamp obsession)

Orrrr proper sexy as hell italian or spanish men with molten brown eyes and thick silky brown hair and an accent that makes my knee's weak

The whole point of a profile, is finding like minded people to whom you are attracted and tick the same boxes.

Profiles should indicate what you offer, and what you seek. Preferences are part of what ticks your boxes. I don't get why people get so hissy, if they don't fit your preferences. You then have a clear choice of whether to message.

I like a well built dark haired man, not hairy and not fat but skinny men do nothing for me, neither do fair haired guys. It's very difficult to tell a man you don't fancy him when it's only genetics. But life would be boring if we all liked the same.

And how good are we, when we find that person, at articulating our sexual preferences ?

Preference is just a bullshit term for people who can't or won't articulate their biases (usually the latter).

Nobody is obliged to explain themselves but likewise nobody is obliged to assume the best when they read discrimination based on things like race.

I meant sexual preferences with your partner as in mild bdsm or ass play but it does show how some people jump to conclusions. I tried to google sanctimonious but I couldnt spell it....

Tea wins every day. ..people dealing with their perception of bigotry def comes at the back of the line.

Now..about ass play....

My preference is gym fit men with dark hair, intelligence and bags of confidence If they hsve a this but they don't have a lovely personality I'm still not interested though There needs to be an intellectual as well as a physical connection for me

You dont get why people are upset by it?..Because nobody likes to be told no I don't like you or want you. Pretty obvious really I thought. Only difference is that everyone deals with that rejection deiferently
