We've been swinging for a couple of years now but there is one aspect of swinging clubs we just don't get...the buffet! We are not questioning the quality of the food. When we have sex together let alone with another couple we've just met the last thing on our minds is to eat a scotch egg and a sausage roll. Can someone explain why they exist in the swinging world??

Me too I don't like the idea of eating in a club whether it is hygienic or not. I think they do it as another selling point though to make your night out easier I guess.

...oh, I can imagine it now...the pasties, sausage-rolls, cheese and pineapple pieces on cocktail sticks, sandwiches, little savoury bits and pieces...great food and a great show to enjoy while you're munching...

Obviously best person to answer this is an owner of a club, but I have a hunch it could be something to do with licensing.

The free buffet probably reinforces the proposition that it is a members club rather than an adult entertainment venue, thus allowing a lot more freedom on opening times and other rules and regulations.

I might be wrong of course!

I usually get to clubs about 9pm so after 3 hours of wandering around and the odd shag I could do with a bite to eat to tide me over until the end of the night. I have no compunction with eating free food. At Chams they even bring out cake!

Have to admit it is funny when the buffet looks like something from the wheeltappers and shunters social club. On our very first club visit some years ago, our fantasy vision of glamour and sophistication was blown swiftly away when we saw tea and sausage rolls for sale.

Where there's a crowd of peckish peeps, hanging around, there's conversation opportunities - and finger-food can be a harmless icebreaker.

While they are munching, it also gives a break in the chatter, where you might get a word in edgewise!

Whether you love or hate the nibbles, the buffet is a sociable watering hole.

The best part of going to a club for me I'd pulling into a maccies at 3am and devouring a burger haha I'm not a buffet person and wouldn't dream of eating at a club. Just seems unhygienic to me

some club struggle for licensing to sell alcohol, at least if they are an establishment that provides food they can get licensed to that alcohol on the premises if people bring their own, hence putting on a buffet

I do like a good buffet but agree that it's an odd thing in a swingers club. We went to one club last year on one of the hottest days of the year. The club was roasting inside and then the egg and tuna sandwiches came out

Not much kills a sexy atmosphere quite like a warm fishy-eggy smell wafting around the play rooms.

Another peeve was that the surrounding play rooms suddenly became impromptu dining rooms.

I think buffets are ok if you have a specific bar / socialising area away from the play rooms.

I have no idea, but I never eat a club buffet.

I have seen many people pick up a sandwich, look inside it then put it back. I have no idea where their hand has been before it touched the sarnie..... but I have a good idea.

We do the same. A vital part of the planning is knowing where the nearest 24 hour macd is located.

Some people just use club's as a social event, so I guess a nattter over a buffet would suit them, I know a few couples who don't play at club's they just like the atmosphere

if we eat from a buffet at a club. We have normally been there since lunch time.. or a good few hours. Id say clubs that offer food is to help people stay longer.

When we go to chams its normally from 11 till after 10pm. We will need food in that time.

Thats just not cricket! Understand if you are not 'feeling it' that night or you are new and feeling your way in...if everyone turned with no intention to swing, well it would no longer be a swingers club!

Clare became ill after eating a prepared buffet. We don't think it was anything to do with the guests but we believe it had probably been badly prepared. Would be v wary another time.

A club we went to in Paris had a corner stall (imagine a small, colouful fairground stall) rammed full of chocolate bars, sweets and the like, all in individual wrappers. We thought this was a great solution for people who need a quick sugar kick.
