Walter Mitty profiles

I know it fantasy on here but surely there needs to be a certain amount of honesty...

Guy I met on a previous profile is a complete Walter Mitty, only his first name was the truth, when I found out his real story I felt violated I'd been taken in by such blatant needless lies... he's a new profile now, has been verified and still spinning stories about his fantasy lifestyle, being 7 years younger etc. Is that seen as normal no harm done fun or sinister for getting mets by false pretenses?

I was talking to someone yesterday about the site and said I assume everything isn't the truth, until proven.

I was saying the same thing to the prime minister only this morning as we took breakfast upon my yacht.

"I was saying the same thing to the prime minister only this morning as we took breakfast upon my yacht."

Well that's a damn lie. It was past 09:00 when I kicked her out of my bed.

She would never have made it to yours for breakfast.

Surprised she bothered after I spent yesterday afternoon smashing her senseless.

Pretty much the same for us.

If we're thinking of taking things further we meet for a social and establish that the person or people are around the age they claim to be, actually exist and we get on personally. I don't think it's wise to base meeting someone on any more than this for disappointment will sometimes follow.

If you go about the Internet assuming that people are perfectly genuine then you are crassly naïve.

This is a place where people can be whoever they want without penalty and as such you should never assume that things are as they seem until you see proof.

A lot of people cannot deal with that and resort to great peals of anguish when they realise human nature is not all sweetness and light.

We would recommend those folks keep well clear of the Internet for social interaction purposes.

It's not nice, but there is nothing to be done to change it.

The Internet is fairly new, lying has been around for a while (I bet those woolly mammoths in the cave paintings weren't that big). In fact the Walter Mitty title of the thread pre-dates it!

If you go through life believing everything you're told, you're buggered.

That often happens if you believe them when they say "it's ok I won't put it in your bum"

It's all a game on here. Best to assume that everyone is bending the truth to get what they want. This works fine for NSA sex; it only becomes a problem if you want more than that.

Near Marlborough

I assume everything is total and utter bollox and that's fine because it's largely irrelevant to me. Don't we all display our wares in a way that we think makes us most attractive?. Some choose to do this more than others. Some are totally made up and there purely to attract wank fodder I guess.

The people I meet who have become meaningful to me do so because we have become "real" to each other.

Long live the fantasies and the fantasists Because without them this would be a bit of a dull site.

You can ride along with it or ignore or block ....

Just don't get hurt along the way

Left years ago because I was no longer single back again because I am.

Of course I was naive, comes with being new... am now seeing its happened to someone else who is new.

I don't think it's naive or too much to ask for basic information to be genuine.

it is naive a little, not everyone needs to lie to get sex but i'm cynical of a lot of people now and don't expect much off here.

not that i expected anything when i signed up to fab, it's just this place has made me a lot more wary of men (on the internet) in general.

and naive isn't a bad thing really, it probably just means you've had less experience with the bullshitters and mostly met genuine guys.

i think some people do try to make themselves feel better by lying, but if you're doing it to get sex then it's a bit more devious then. my opinion anyway.

i've had guys going on about material stuff to me and i think it's kinda sad they think i'd be interested in that in the first place. even sadder if they were lying about it to con me.

Some people are off and on for years doesn't mean their previous profile wasn't genuine. I'd always delete my profile if in a relationship, hence now having a new one.

I'd seen the guy a few times and been to his home so felt I did know him, was only years later when we met by chance in the real world he told me the truth in hope coming clean would lead to a relationship. No chance!

Very rare if you have managed to always meet nice genuine honest people or to never have had feelings creep in.

Certainly not naive anymore lol.

You seem to have a problem trusting people. But don't worry, we're world-reknowned psychiatrists and can promise you that just one session on our couch will sort you out.

This is fantasy Fab land. I see it is working though as well. Like they say 'A standing prick has no conscience'. If anything this thread will just encourage more men to be dishonest if it gets results.
