White knight

When men are polite, funny and flirty in the forums, it's classed as white knighting by others.

It's ridiculous and says much more about the personality of those who call it white knighting.

I'd much rather have that in the forum than personal attacks, snide comments and insults that are thrown around by others.

I don't think white knighting is just blokes who are being polite and courteous. It is when they are disparaging about other men in an attempt to court favour with women by defending their 'honour'. In that situation I find it crass, however the term is bandied about far too frequently in an inappropriate way on here.

Nothing wrong with being polite, or flirty, or respectful

I draw the line at publically fawning over strangers though - as is sometimes the case

I also dislike seeing guys knocking other guys as a general statement, purely to get female attention.

If a particular guy is being a knob, fair enough, but sweeping statements do nothing but make the writer appear more needy or unable to find other ways to up their own game as opposed to making them chivalrous

You don't know that those people who do that are strangers to each other though. They could easily be intimately acquainted, as this is a sex site after all

I also draw a distinction between sycophancy and white knighting. Sycophancy is also a bit vomit inducing too.

This isnt white knighting.

White knighting is when a guy agrees with every single thing you say.

Says things like "all women are beautiful" etc.

It's much the same with keyboard warrior or point scoring because they disagree with one poster - I think they are just terms that are beginning to be used whenever someone is unhappy about a point.

I've questioned myself a bit over this if, I'm honest.

I imagine we are all trying to present an online image of ourselves, in the hope that we'll come across well, make some nice connections, or even get invited to that gangbang in the Travelodge at Junc 37 on the M6.

Have I sometimes written things that I reckon will present me in a good light with women on here-yup. It wasn't really conscious - just an attempt to come across well and highlight my magnificence. I kinda check for it now.

I think it's possible to tip over into a situation where all your posts are focused on that.

I guess it could get wearing for others if it's overt. It's often in response to somewhat attention seeking starting posts, y'know:

"My fanny looks like a badger that's been run over....

No hun, it's gorgeous, you're gorgeous. It looks like it was crafted lovingly by angels and filled with the nectar of the gods".

It's no crime though.

As for being white knight - I'm sca_ed of horses.

Pretty much this ^^

I see white-knighting as a public attempt to defend the honour of a fair maiden and slay the enemy in hope of earning the favour of said damsel.

It's the internet equivalent of sidling up to a lady in a bar and saying 'excuse me Miss, is this gentleman bothering you?'

Many use it as a tool to elevate themselves (in their mind at least) above the 'competition'.

It can be very amusing to witness from afar

Polite, funny and flirty are not the qualities of a white knight.

A white knight will reply positively to ANY female comment, regardless how stupid or wrong, simply to gain her attention ain the hopes of getting his dick wet.

Simple test, just post something blatently dumb and get a male friend to call you out and watch as Mr white knight charges in to argue your cause with flattery and apparent charm.

We sadly know several outside swinging, they call themselves male feminists and hang on any female in pubs words in the hope of pulling... yet later are bragging at what they got up to..

Thing is, the term is just thrown about far too much in here. It's easy if someone's disagreed with your _iew and agreed with another, to turn around and claim they're white knighting.

A bit like those who start threads to be controversial and then say they're not liked or that they're treated unfairly.

Yes but why tell someone theyre gorgeous if theyre not?

Surely you dont think ALL women are gorgeous?

But they could be gorgeous in their eyes. It's all about personal perception.

You really think that its possible to find EVERY single woman attractive?

Not at all, but then I've never actually seen or heard anyone say that all women are attractive.

I have, more times than i care to cringe at..on forums all the time

They literally said "every single woman is attractive'? Is that right?

If so. Even I find that bullshit.

I've seen works of art that are classed as masterpieces that I don't like.

All women on here are beautiful - there's software that crashes the computers of ugly women whenever they try to sign up

Glad I made it in before they recalibrated it for blokes.

A white knight isn't just being polite, it is the guy who is trying to curry favour while putting another bloke down. The 'I would never do that to you, he must be some kind of twat, you deserve so much better' guy. The one who is trying to get in your knickers and being creepy about it that is the white knight.

I like to think that I'm polite.

If I read something posted in a thread on the forum, then I'll express an opinion.

I've seen my comments, reaction to something someone else has written, remarked upon as "White Knight" at moments.

If someone is dumb enough to start a forum thread with a disparaging comment/rant, that's quite clearly provocative, or plainly stupid, then it's game on.

I am polite by nature, but I'm very strong minded in all areas of life, I won't say something just to be polite or to flatter. I'm just myself. However, in the bedroom it really comes down to who I'm with and what works within the dynamics of the coupling.

I think this whole white knighting thing is someone simply wanting to make an impression rather than express a _iew or opinions.

I also dislike seeing guys knocking other guys as a general statement, purely to get female attention.

If a particular guy is being a knob, fair enough, but sweeping statements do nothing but make the writer appear more needy or unable to find other ways to up their own game as opposed to making them chivalrous"

It can be very amusing to witness from afar "

Polite, funny and flirty are not the qualities of a white knight.

A white knight will reply positively to ANY female comment, regardless how stupid or wrong, simply to gain her attention ain the hopes of getting his dick wet.

Simple test, just post something blatently dumb and get a male friend to call you out and watch as Mr white knight charges in to argue your cause with flattery and apparent charm.

We sadly know several outside swinging, they call themselves male feminists and hang on any female in pubs words in the hope of pulling... yet later are bragging at what they got up to.."

you got either the description wrong or you are confusing one type of men for something entirely different...

'white knights' are certain types of men who see a woman in a forum who is generally putting herself down, or is getting unfavourable attention, so they comment by saying that she is lovely and they would meet her and generally blow smoke up her arse...

I'd much rather have that in the forum than personal attacks, snide comments and insults that are thrown around by others.

No they're not its when they're sycophantic, manipulative and simpering.

If you can't see through that you're either very naive or every desperate

Yes, damn, you've sussed me, I'm desperate. I really struggle to find anyone who wants to meet me Hey ho, it's a tough world.

You realise there is more than meeting in the world right?

You may not be desperate for meets but you are very clearly desperate for approval of your cheating.

And you do nearly always engage with the white knights in your threads about your cheating."

what the fuck is this shit

"Ah where's playful minx gone...."

Guessing either she wasnt as smart as she thought and hubby found out.

Or in about 5 days we're going to get a new "controversial" forum poster once the newbie time elapses on her new account

There was a comment from another member after a thread of hers, which was later removed. She may not have, though...
