What to wear to a Vanilla Cinema Night

Last night Blondie and I went to the Local cinema to see the Oscar nominated Hidden Figures. Such an amazing film.

But we wonder whether we were a little bit risqué with her chosen outfit for the evening? Would love to hear people's opinions from the photo we took before the film started.

I'd ever consider wearing that for a night out to the cinema, but each to their own.

Did she wear a coat over the top and keep it buttoned up?

It's also not everyday cinema wear for older women. I'd be surprised to see a 20 something in them in a cinema.

It's club wear, without the holdups.

How many times have you seen women dressed that way in a cinema or pub?

I meant what time was the film you went to see. Considering the film is a pg, no I don't think it's appropriate but evidently you do and enjoyed it along with looks you received.

I don't think it's fair to make others part of your 'thing' without their consent.

Have to say, quite surprised by the responses to our pic. I received so many compliments on the outfit from our friends last night.

Is wearing a super sexy outfit for a night really that bad?

What I had on covered far more than some of the younger women seeing movies last night at this cinema and even my 15 year old daughter loved the outfit when I showed to her before we left home.

Oh well, I guess even Fab isn't ready for this yet, despite the many threads applauding people who flash lorry drivers, or go out in mini skirts and no panties to flash their wears at unsuspecting people in coffee shops or shopping centers.

Sorry if we offended so many fabbers. Quite stranger how the dab community is offended, when absolutely no one was offended during our cinema night last night?

And before anyone asks, we know that no one was offended, because absolutely no one got the opportunity to see this outfit, except our friends, who all loved it...

I think the issues is op that there is a time and a place to seek attention by wearing your underwear regardless of how sexy it maybe and a vanilla cienima is not one of those times or places. If you had been at a theatre to see rocky horror then that would of been diffetent. My daughter is 15 and she knows full well I'm on here but she would be mortified if I went out like that.

Actually corsets have been a functional outerwear item since the late 1980s and hot pants even earlier, in the 70s.

As for holdups and stockings, it has been a repeated fashion statement to wear hold ups and stickings/suspenders showing for over 20 years.

Just saying...

I'm not offended. I couldn't care less how your wife chooses to dress to go out. You asked people's opinions and they gave them. You took your time in telling us that no one could see what she was wearing. Bit pointless asking if it was risqué if no one could see it.

To insinuate is to suggest something.

Your photograph on your profile, along with your opening post, suggested that she sat there in a corset, hotpants and stockings with nothing covering her up.

I don't think people are offended per se, I think it is more the lack of common sense and the public venue.

Of course your friends liked it, you met them at a swingers club afterwards, which as you know is a far more appropriate place for that outfit.

(Unless you go back to the Minoan period, where a version of the corset was depicted as outerwear on a painting.)

She gets looks wherever she goes, but we didn't flash anyone, as was suggested. We don't feel that this outfit was breaking any rules, laws or inflicting "our thing" on anyone. It was super sexy, but it was not explicit in any way.

I own it like a bitch hun. I don't really give 2 f##ks about all the jealous people who either could pull this outfit off or don't have the balls to wear something similar.

I owned that shit last night and I felt super sexy and empowered by my femininity last night and I won't apologize for any of that.

I'm not a monster and I certainly wasn't flashing strangers in the street, or the cinema.

But I put that outfit together for my husband and I looked a damn sight better than any of the 20 something bimbos with their arse cheeks hanging out of the back of their bodycon mini dresses.

But thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to keep them in mind for our next cinema trip. Perhaps we will go see the new Smurfs movie, or Beauty and the Beast.

"Op if your going to do an attention seeking thread just own it.

This. You'll find most are still indifferent to you, not busy blacklisting you."

We're cool with that. Indifference is our favorite state of mind when it comes to fab.

"Op if your going to do an attention seeking thread just own it.

Perhaps we will go see the new Smurfs movie, or Beauty and the Beast. big ego small brain ..have a nice day "

We had a lovely day, which didn't involve insulting people.

So sorry if we ruined yours.

Oh, far from bruised. I know my value sweetheart. Thought we might brighten a few peoples day, but clearly not receptive. If our ego was bruised we'd have hidden the pic and skulked away.

Sadly, instead we are getting insults because we haven't capitulated to the "usual suspects, forum police"

Oh well, each to their own.

People aren't insulting you - you asked for opinions which you receive. It is a forum, for discussion.

The insults have come from you - people being jealous/not having the figure etc.

Perhaps next time if you wish to only read things that are complimentary, say that in the OP.

I find it more surprising that you would show your 15 year old daughter how you go to the cinema... she must be so proud

"Last night Blondie and I went to the Local cinema to see the Oscar nominated Hidden Figures. Such an amazing film.

But we wonder whether we were a little bit risqué with her chosen outfit for the evening? Would love to hear people's opinions from the photo we took before the film started. "

If that was your outfit for Hidden Figures, what the hell were you wearing when you saw Fifty Shades Darker???

Incidentally, if anyone cares, I've just come home from watching The Lego Batman Movie in jeans, a hoodie and a Slayer T-shirt. It's hilarious. The movie, not my outfit.

my daughter has just written an assignment for me English exam on feminism. She mentions that Emma Watson from the new beauty and the beast film refused to wear a corset to eliminate beauty standards for young girls and women. You even suggesting wearing the outfit you did last nite to the beauty and the beast film is disrespectful to Emma Watson and other women.

Not appropriate for the venue especially for a PG rated film

I personally wouldn't be that desperate for attention that I'd need/want to do something like that

This could be a good thread. Odd outfits related to the film you're going to watch.

Need to find something crazy to wear for "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars" next week.

Surely by wearing an outfit like that to a regular Cinema, you must realise some people are gonna dig it and some are gonna think it's very distasteful.

So this thread reaction is to be expected but you are not coming off too well in your response to this expected reaction, in my humble opinion.

I've never seen a flashing thread go down well here so I wouldn't take it personally that yours hasn't either.

From the OP it sounded as though you walked into the cinema as you were dressed in the picture, had that have been the case then I would consider that slightly inappropriate for a vanilla night out, yet in a swinging club a welcome sight, it's all about right place right time and knowing your audience.
