You can start by filtering out NEW and UN-Verified users, avoid having "dirty talk" message exchanges, and don't take your conversations onto another medium (kik, whatsapp, etc...)

The easiest way to rule out picture collectors is to either not send any or if you do only send them via fab and tick the box that deletes you picture some time after the message has been read. You can also do this by deleting it from your gallery. I'm not sure that picture collectors are as prevalent as people think, there are so many available on the net anyway.

Timewasters will always be with us but also people can sometimes decide they don't want to meet after chatting for a while. It depends what you mean by time wasting.
