Just for research purposes I just checked out new members

200 women 182 silouettes

200 guys 184

200 TV/TS 117

200 Couples 169

Now I know not everyone with pics is genuine & also know that not everyone without them is fake but considering we are online surely one of the things needed is an initial attraction. So to me at least a large percentage of the above are likely to be messers & oglers.

Those figures are just ridiculous in my eyes & to me do not give a good impression of the site for genuine newbies who maybe in the early days do not know about filters, we didn't after all.

On a similar note anyone care to explain the logic of having public pics but no profile pic? Always confused me that one

Possibly those figures are so high because like you they aren't quite sure how the site works as they're new, they might put avatars up later.

Some people take internet security very seriously and aren't prepared to post pictures publicly and some will be trying to pretend they're somebody they're not.

Quite a few have girlfriends or wives, i know because i have met a lot of them. Or they may have jobs that wouldnt aprove of them being on here.

Here's a comment from one of the silhouettes! I've been on this (and similar) sites for 5 years and have never once put up a picture.

Yes, I've often been accused of being a fraud, a man, a time waster--til friends jump in to verify that I am indeed a real woman who never stands someone up once we've agreed to meet.

I have a variety of reasons for not putting up any pics. I don't consider myself fabulously beautiful, though not butt ugly either. Some find me attractive, some don't. When I met, I preferred to meet men who aren't just after instashag--therefore, someone who was interested in me as a real person, and was more into who I am than what I am.

Another reason I don't post a picture is to out the idiots. First of all, if they bothered to read my profile or not, and secondly, to spot the pushy ones. Those who insist on a picture just to chat to me (and continue to insist after I've said not yet) shows a pushiness that I find translates into the real world in other things. I do not do pushy. Ever.

Finally, as my profile says, I'm here to chat to some likeminded fun people for now. Do you REALLY need to know what I look like in order to do so?

I've chatted with quite a few other black head shapes, and find that the anticipation of finding out what they look like is a real turn on.

So, silhouette works for me.

Yep, That would cover a few, but how many people put up face pics, very few & you don't need to. Tattoos etc I also get, but what sort of job are you in of you get recognised from say a semi naked torso pic or more explicit. Or just a clothed headless torso

We just ignore any messages from anyone who can't be bothered to put a pic up .. we have found especially the single women profiles to be men hiding behind the woman profile to get some attention .. you don't need to put face pics up but any pic is more interesting than a silhouette . ..

How long does the "new" categorisation last?

When people join, they might not have a suitable pic ready - I suspect it took me a couple of weeks to look around and write my profile 3 dozen times, etc.

My point is that I'd expect the numbers to "normalise" after a certain amount of time - so the numbers after about a month might be more representative.

Thank you for reply "From the other side" as it were and all duly noted, for us personally we are shit at online chat, flirting etc & we also do not consider ourselves good looking but attack the same issue from the other end of the stick. Put pics up & have done with it. Peeps either like them or they don't.

I'd hazard a guess though that a lot more female silhouettes get meets than the similar guys just due to the numbers involved.

I guess the test of how many are genuine would be to see how many disappear off the site within a week and how many end up with a verification within a month or so.

My guess is that Parato's 80/20 rule applies.

Same for me, that explains it perfectly.

Also having no pics has made me view other people's profiles differently too. It's interesting.

Not sure, just searched "New" and it gives last 200 I'd expect a 50% unlos rate at least after a month. Why we block them, Get contacted, give them the benefit of the doubt, get sent a pic have a chat, maybe they are too far to meet soon but start looking. Wake up, log on, Unlos..ffs! So we no longer bother..
