Now accepting that obviously this is a choice thing... I have just been wondering... why? Ok having a friends list has benefits, seeing when they are online, pics, status updates but why display them? Nothing against people who do but just wondering WHY they do? Is there a benefit? If so, what is it?

Personally, I think some folks on here, seem to be collecting 'friends'! It's not so bad now, as it only show's 20 (I think?) 'friends' - I used to see profiles where you would just scroll down & down & down one Very long list of 'friends'!

You get updates on your friends.. when they are looking to meet etc.

We have friends list to keep a list of people we genuinely want to meet.

We try to remove some now and then that we are never going to get around to meeting.

It can genuinely be useful (outside the private photo feature)

If somebody is interested in you, and you see that one of your friends is friends with them, it can be a sign that they're ok.

I no longer display my friends list, as it has been used against me before.

I no longer show my veris, as I actually had a mail saying 'you played with them, but wont play with us!'

I guess it choice, I chose not to show either, I am very discreet, & am less inclined to go on a friends list when its visable, I figure its no-one elses business who I am friends with or not.

Just my pennies worth

got rid of my friends list last week.

realised they're not friends - just people i would like to meet or have met and would like to meet again.

so anyone of interest now is on my 'hotlist' which is personal to me.

and before anyone has a go at me, this is in respect of my profile.

i am not casting aspertions on anyone else, recommending how other people run their profiles, suggesting that other people don't have genuine friends on their lists etc etc

cos u can never be too sure on here

that's a terrible attitude.

why would you expect that because a person has played with someone you jointly know that they would want to play with you ?

i hope u gave um short shrift !

i started hiding mine after guys were using it to say they were friends with me an i said to contact my friend- when i hadn't - suggesting we get together for 3somes.

over a period of time you can feel someone has chatted to you just to see your pics and nothing else.

i do have people on my friends list who i have met and some i havnt.

im fair in that i do give it sometimes and if a person who is on the list doesnt want to meet for some reason i removed them.

what is the point of them being on there if they are not interested in meeting?

i make it clear its my intention so anything else from them is timewasting.

its yes or no, and if its no, take care and good luck.

as long as your reasonable and give people plenty of time to arrange something with you then i consider this fair.

why else do you have people on a friends list.

you want to meet not view the pics.

The people on my friends list are people I've met or I'm planning to meet.

Plus if I put up "Meet today" its only for my friends ( as I've stated on my profile).

I'm very choosey who gets on it aswell.

I hide my friends list and only use it privately for people I have seen or intend to see. When I did show it had some unpleasant emails from people who wanted me to add them x

We've never hidden it as well it's just not something we've ever thought of doing.

The public friends list does not add much to your own profile, but I suppose if you are looking for people of similar interests then checking others friends list may bring up people of similar tastes.

Just a thought, so more of a public good than a element useful to the individual.
