Redditch

Riffing on the recent channel 4 series, "Humans" where realistic Androids exist.

The main plot is about consciousness and definitions of human. (some spoilers)

They also covered sex, with robot brothels, and 'adult' options.

In such a world, would it be wrong to do so. Can a non-conscious machine consent? If you choose to play with a synthetic that appears to be the same gender, are you homosexual or robosexual.

At the end of the second series, child synthetics were revealed. As they are just smaller machines, would it be wrong for someone to play with one?

If sin is treating other people like objects, would anything be wrong with using your own property (a non-conscious synthetic) in any way you like?

Very deep questions...

The whole idea of consent though, isn't that about being conscious?

As in, you can't get consent from a sleeping person so it's considered rape. So how can you get consent from a machine that can't make decisions?

Your kettle doesnt get a choice if it wants to boil you water it not.. it was just built for that.

Worth watching for Gemma Chan and Emily Berrington alone.

As for sex with bots, it will happen one day I guess.

not watched the series.

is it wrong? well it's not rape if you fuck something that cannot consent if it also hasn't the capability to decide for itself that it doesn't want sex either. and AI cannot so this right now, it is not sentient in any form whatsoever.

treating objects that look like and behave like people as objects, including child like devices, is probably wrong. as humans we are the only ones making the choices here. the creation of said devices might be wrong. it is the intent behind the creation of these things that makes it seem wrong to me, that we are making things to fulfil our needs but are supposedly human. but we also treat actual humans this way to, so not sure if real people will be treated better or worse (or the same) because of this.

we are doing it regardless so gonna find out one way or the other eventually.
