I've got to say it's boxers for every day activity, but briefs for sport.

This has worked for me as a 62 year old guy, ! my testicles are still like a teenagers, because I have worn briefs all my life, Now how many guys are going to have testicles dangling down to their knees, half my age wearing boxers

I think people get confused as to what boxer shorts are. Loose fitting shorts, like normal shorts are what you call boxers. I don't know anybody who wears those. Trunks which is a hybrid of boxers and briefs are what most men wear.
